So I just read a review off of Amazon for the new CG Resident Evil film Damnation coming out soon, and this guy...wow. The title of his review was "Not for Kids!" The review goes on to talk about how he originally thought to himself (not verbatim) "This is great that they are introducing Resident Evil to a younger audience." and how disgusted he is that it really is for adults. Come on....really, are you that dense? First of all, the two words "Evil" and "Damnation" in a title should throw up red flags instantly...how are people this ******ed. Thoughts?

Obviously he had it stuck in his head that "It's animated, that must mean it's for kids!"

There is a pervasive attitude in north american society that the medium of animation is solely aimed at children. This has basically been the case since post WW2.

^Very true, but the thing is, in the review the dude also expresses that he's pretty familiar with Resident Evil. If you're in anyway familiar with the series....need I say more?

Agreed... Anything animated or in comic form is automatically for little kids, which is so untrue. drives me insane...

also, i changed the title, lets try to keep swear words that might offend some people out of the titles. Thanks

What Aerneroth said and there's also a perception that anything based on or related to video games is aimed at children.

Of course! No sort of animated film or show can be for adults? Besides, South Park, Robot Chicken, Family guy, American dad, Drawn together, and to a lesser extent Futrarama.

    Haha, oh wow.

Am I the only one who grew up around adults who thought all anime was Ninja Scroll?

Let's not forgot Dating Guy, Assy Mcgee, Rick and Steve, and to a lesser extent, Frisky Dingo.

    God I love Canada. :lol

But still, it is a shame that animation is seen as only being for kids. When I mention a cool show the first thing out of my dad's mouth is, "is it with real people?"

    He implied it, not me.

I cosplayed a girl from an anime (Full Metal Panic) so my mom thought that the name of the show was "anime". So whenever any ever mentions anime she said "someone was talking about that show you like"

This kind of reminds me of that one guy saying that he didn't like TDKR and didn't know much about modern day comic books or manga. He said that "comic books are for kids." A lot of animated stuff today is clearly not for kids. I don't think that many people know that comic books have gotten darker and that animated movies have become more mature. Batman: Under the Red Hood? Every single modern comic? Both of the Ultimate Avengers movies? Nobody can say that those are for kids.
