    So, those of us non-US peoples are at an obvious disadvantage when it comes to getting Transformer figures. And even when and if we do, the import prices and such are sometimes astronomical.

    Today I did a quick scan of the general selection here to check out just what was available, and more importantly, WHAT IT COST.

    ISK = Icelandic Krona, then calculated to the USD equivalent and then how much it costs in general in the US.

    Real gear: 1549 ISK = USD $25,74
    (in USA: $ 6.99)

    Movie Voyager: 4249 ISK = USD $70,60
    (in USA: $19.99)

    Cyber Stompin' = 3999 ISK = USD $66,30
    (in USA: $19.99)

    Movie leader prime = 8799 ISK= USD $146,21
    (in USA: $39.99)

    Optimus Prime Battle Big Blaster = 6599 ISK = USD $109,65
    (in USA: $29.99)

    Optimash Prime = 1899 ISK= USD $32
    (in USA: $9.99)

    Those are the only ones I have been able to find so far, but I have yet to search other areas. I am however not expecting any better prices.

    People have asked me before, why spend so much money to fly overseas to BotCon every year? Well, I can easily afford that just by not buying a couple of TF's. :lol
    I usually do most of my toy-buying at BotCon or in the US...and now you know why! ;)

    Anyone got any similar price-comparison stories?

    We pay double what the Americans pay, but that is ridiculous.

    Hey hey,

    In the UK Deluxes cost around £9.99 which is roughly $20. Voyagers are £19.99 which is approximately $40. Leader figures are £39.99 which is $80. Beatmix Bumblebee is £39.99 as well.

    This is why when I was out in the US for Botcon I bought as many Movie toys as I needed and shipped them home because I knew I'd be paying over double at home.

    Sad but true. Although I do believe our Movie Legends figures actually worked out cheaper in some stores...

    Out of interest, where in Iceland did you find the figures? I hear you guys have a TRu opening soon as well right?

    All the best

    We do, but that TRU is being operated out of Scandinavia, so I have no idea if they'll have the same lines or releases that the US TRU ones have.

    And these figures I found in the biggest Hagkaup branch (think Wal*Mart) in the country.
    Have yet to scope the local (read: ONLY) comic book store here and the toy specific reatils, but know they all get their TF toys from the same wholesale distributor, so I doubt the prices will differ much.

    For the UK price just take the $ sign and change i tto a £ most of the time.
    i.e.

    Deluxe = $9.99 -> £9.99 ($20.45)
    Voyager = $24.99 -> £19.99 ($40.93)
    Leader = $39.99 -> £39.99 ($81.85)
    Ultimate BB = $89.99 -> £79.99 ($163.71)

    Nowhere near as bad a sIceland admittedly but not brill either.
    It used to be cheapert o get alternators imported from Hong Kong than it was to buy them here, well, for the ones we actually got anyway.
    ALL of my cybertron stuff came from Japan, not only was it out earlier but it was cheaper to import it!

    In that case it sounds as though your best option is the TRU, at the very least it should have the same stuff as most European TRUs have. I think TRU in Holland had a better run of stuff than we have in the UK. I've seen no deluxes in my local TRU. Although we did have a buy-1-get-1-halfprice deal going for a while on anything TF.

    Hah, I gave my friend in Iceland a Slumblebee and have been going on about the movie so much she says she can't wait to see it. It's August 11th for you guys isn't it?

    These prices don't really matter that much unless we knew how much the average sallary was for that particular country when converted to USD. Like, if you pay twice as much, but make on average twice as much, it balances it out.I'm not saying it DOES balance out, but it would make the price differences more accurate if we knew that.

    It's a valid point, although in a country like Iceland where the national population is something like 300,000 I'm not sure how valuable such a statistic would be to the analysis.

    Or maybe not...ahem I'll stick to toys..

    I hope we get the same deals as the other TRU's but I am not holding my breath....

    The movie "officially" opens here on August 11th yes, but there have been and will be several pre-screenings before then.

    And you have a friend in Iceland? Good to know!
    With the low population count and high networking, I am almost sure she and I are at the most two degrees apart :lol

    You know what would suck... if robot heroes were completely sold out of Prime/Unicron and I had to wait to send you the HUGE money saving package of Robot Heroes...

    oh wait... damn those prices are crazy!

    damn, guys, that sucks. so what do you do? I'd just have a friend or someone from the boards buy them for you at retail, and then just ship them over. a 5-10 lb. box can't be more than $20. I shipped a mirage to someone in scandinavia for $10 surface.

    I don't know, it's easy to look at prices for one single thing and be shocked, but there are a lot of economics to take into account, lik pay wages, living expenses, and medical expenses etc. After knowing this information we could figure out if those prices were absurd or not.

    When I left New York on July 4th, there were definitely more of the Unciron/Prime sets showing up in the Times Square TRU, although I don't know if that's representative of the rest of the country?

    Looking at your sig, I saw you 2 around at BotCon loads! haha ah well, next time.

    All the best
    Maz...signed the big 2005 board at least and got pics of Tony B getting run over by the Movie Prime truck...

    Well that's exactly what i did when I was in the US. I managed to squeeze 2 leaders and about 4 voyagers into one box plus some other little bits. I paid $35 airmail which was easily more acceptable than the UK prices which are more than double.

    Hah yes that's what she and her friend kept telling me. They're both flight attendants and when she was waiting in check-in to board herself (as staff) she recognised like 4 other people in the Icelandair queue. "that guy's a banker, she's a doctor", it was surreal!

    Do you have any info about the next advance screening in Reykjavik? I can give her the details. She has a dog just like Mojo and I have a feeling that's the real motivation...

    hey, I'm a nice guy, if anyone here ever needs me to pick up something, or start a box, I'd be glad to be somebody's US gopher, as long as they pay for everything, i.e. shipping, paypal fees, and of course the toys+tax.

    For what it's worth, German TRUs overstocked on Protoform Prime and Starscream, skipped the Bumblebee/Barricade etc. wave althogether and are now glutted with Swindles and Bumecrushers alongside the Protoforms.
