im just outside a few minutes ago, and there's a neat looking bright light, almost like a double star (brighter then anything else in the sky at the moment) just wondering if anyone else can see it? maybe knows what it is?

I thought it was pretty neat. there's no moon out right now, but look outside if its clear where you are, its in the southern sky, about 45 degrees up. It's been stationary for 20 minutes since I first saw it.

I thought venus is usually to the east in the mornings, but could be.

its pretty high up in the sky though, and far more south, then east.

im no space whizz though, so Im really not sure. just thought it was neat :)

could be jupiter maybe, but I dont remember it being that bright.

sorry for the random post, im just up in the middle of the night, just got back form seeing Transformers ROTF and rode my bike back, and saw this on the way home, I thought it was cool.

You're sure it's not moving? And possibly drawing a green mist behind it?

Definately Venus. Venus is the 3rd brightest celestial object we can see, & the 2nd brightest object in the night sky.

Most likely the space station. Very bright, looks like a star. Some nights the brightest thing in the sky.
