It would be nice if little Johnny could be taught NOT to drink 10 cans of pop a day instead of doing this, but they gotta do what works I guess.
WTF? How will all the fat kids handle this?
Haha! No more caffeinated sugar for the li'l fatties!
ETA to companies going WTF KIDS AREN'T BUYING DIET SODA WHEN THATS ALL THERE IS?! approx. 3-4 weeks.
I would've been pissed... wait, I didn't have pop at my school anyways.
Nice. Although some diet soda tastes like crap, it's just more motivation for kids not to drink it at all.
By drinking the sugar water they will be provided now instead.
This dosen't bother me for 2 reasons.
1. I have been drinking diet soda since 5th grade anyhow.
2. When I was in school we didn't have soda machines.
This is happening in Australia too and it pisses me off.
I'm a pre-service techer, next year I'll be a full tim teacher. In Australia this law basically means TEACHERS can't buy drinks like coke at schools.
I'm sorry, but its a high school, if a fatty can't control what he/she drinks or eats, its their issue, not mine.
In Australia this law also extends to foods as well.
What I forsee is this: lots of kids coming to school with money for Tuckshop (cafeteria for you guys) not buying food they dont wanna eat and instead going hungry. Leaving me with hungry irritable kids in the afternoon.
Haha! Rhetorics for teh win!!!111
Do what you want to the students, but Bill Clinton better NOT FUCK WITH THE SODA MACHINES in the teacher's lounge.
This is a nice step, but when are we getting the "Take Some Fucking Responsibility For Your Own Fucking Life Act"
to answer shipwreck who knows....hope soon
It doesnt botherme as well I m in college(where they dont give a shit about this kinda crap and if they did means less revenue for them as they would simply go to the supermarket down the street)
and in highschool I was rather poor.-no job or anything - so rarely a drink was on my mind.
When I was a kid the only way to get a soda in school was if you brought it from home until I got to high school. The first high school I went to had a room with 8 vending machine 3 for soda, 4 with snack and one with hot drinks like coco and coffee and massive lines of kids waiting to use them. When we moved and I going to the new school they had a snack window that sold soda and crap but it was no where near as popular as the machines at the other place.
And I have never gone to a school with a cafeteria like you think of when you think of such places. If you got the school lunch it was always from some window with food prepared in some strange place know one had ever been to.
Thank you for coming on this trip down memory lane.
The funny thing is the crap they put in Diet Soda is worse than the suger in regular soda.
Well, that's a good sign.
Thank God there weren't any soda vending machines when I was in high school.
That sucks for kids. Thankfully, Im not in highschool anymore. Soda is a great way to get through a horrible class and stay alert.
SPOILERS!!: Its not the soda's fault the kids are fat and unhealthy. Its the LIFESTYLE they live and the FOOD they eat. Soda is just a minor player in the whole scheme of things.
Personally, I just drink tea, with or without sugar. But, I do see how the ban might not help the teachers, who need to stay alert and active for the day (especially with unruly students).
Everyone at my high school is already boycotting because there is no soda to buy there. We have vending machines, but I'm not gonna bother anymore. Hell, they're boycotting because of the high prices in the cafeteria. Start brown-baggin' it, folks.
