I heard on the radio today that Mcdonalds will not be carrying Happy Meals, meaning no more Promo toys. I read online that there was a law that Mcdonalds have been filed Lawsuits regarding that Mcdonalds providing toys encourages people to buy more unhealthy food. So they are saying that they will be just serving regular kids meals with no toys.

I know what you are going to say, "What does this have to do with Transformers?" Because after the Megamind toys they were going to have Transformers toys. So if this happens there will be no Transformers toys ever!

What are your concerns or am I being miss lead?

Exclusive to San Fransisco or not, it's still ridiculous. McDonald's spent millions on a campaign to emphasize that they include apple slices and juice as an alternative to fries and a soda. Not to mention the can of worms argument that society's increasing laziness encourages people to eat unhealthy. Or that you could just buy the toy on it's own without having to buy any food at all.

And shit, a Happy Meal without a toy ain't so happy.

Oh no! No more typically crappy plastic cheapo piles of plastic with obviously bad food!

Does this mean all you'll have to live with is...*gasp* actual Transformer toys?!

    [/sarcasam]

Please. The only time I ever cared about the toys with Happy meals after I was 8 was whenever the toy was a Hot Wheels car, and I stopped that years ago.

As others have stated, it is in San Francisco, and is not yet in affect. The ordinance is not specific to Happy Meals but rather "prohibits toy giveaways in fast-food children's meals that have more than 640 milligrams of sodium, 600 calories or 35 percent of their calories from fat."

If you want more info type in San Francisco Happy Meal or San Francisco toys into a google news search and you should be able to find all the details of the ordinance. Hope that helps out.

All I'm saying is that when the TF toys hit McDonalds, I'll be eating a lot of Mighty Kids Meals.

If I was a kid & I was forced to get apple slices & milk at McDonalds, I'd turn to my parent & ask "What the fuck are we doing here then?" Probably get slapped but it'd be the truth. Might as well eat at home.

Well aren't you all grown up now *nudges cheek*

Now let us get back to talking about children's toys on the internet like reasonable, mature adults.

Eh. Even if Maccas drops their Happy Meals (I seriously doubt that they'll actually do it), You don't think some other fast food franchise won't start including toys with their kids meals? I don't think you know the fast food industry very well... :lol

The sarcasm's nice, but swing and a miss. I can't speak for everyone else, but my opinion on this isn't about the toys specifically, but the fact that there's nothing wrong with included toys for children in a kid's meal.

Hell, the toys have nothing to do with the actual problem. The toys are just the scapegoat.

Lose the toys... because that'll solve the child obesity problem.  It's not as if the real issue here is that it takes two working parents to maintain the cost of living and that no one knows how to cook a damn meal anymore. No, it's the fucking Happy Meal toys.
You're assuming children actually eat Happy Meals. In which case, you've never actually seen a child in a McDonald's.

Here how it goes for a kid in a McDonald's:
    - Kid walks in McDonald's.
    - Kid stares at the toy display, pointing at each one individually while the parent orders him a Happy Meal.
    - Kid asks for a specific toy.
    - McDonald's doesn't have that specific toy.
    - Kid sits down with his meal.
    - Kid opens up the toy, takes two bites of his burger (or eats a McNugget), and is off to the PlayPlace until the parent finishes their meal and the Happy Meal.
The ordinance applies to every fast food chain in San Fransisco, not just McDonald's.
