Did anyone catch this on Monday?

I found it pretty entertaining, especially because I fully expected not to enjoy it at all.

It was Modern Family meets Heroes. Yes, it's been compared to The Incredibles for a very good reason, but as a TV show, it has more in common with those two. Hell it even throws in a little Conspiracy into the mix.

It was decent enough, but still just felt like a family drama with super-powers. I'm interested to see if they can actually make the concept work, and not degrade into the mess that was Heroes.

I'd have liked to see more originality, I'm noticing several similar scenes and plot points from older superhero shows.

Gotta agree there, they stole the reasoning (powers based on a person's mental fears) for how they got their powers straight from the Fantastic Four.

The Dad: Feels like he isn't strong enough to hold the family together....becomes super-strong.

The Mom: Feels like she doesn't have enough time to get everything in life accomplished...becomes super-fast.

The Daughter: A teenager that is very concerned with everyone's opinion of her....becomes telepathic.

The Son: Feels like the idiot of the family....becomes super-smart.

The writers pretty much threw originality out the door when creating their powers.

Not to mention some scenes directly lifted from the old flash TV show and even some scenes from old superman and other similar movies involving super strength. As far as anything Marvel based though ABC is Disney owned and Disney owns marvel. So they can rip off any thing from marvel they want.

Oh absolutely they can, just that it's rather funny how blatant the rip-off (or homage if you want) is.

The problem is that this is all charted territory, so the duplicated scenes are gonna keep coming.

i'm gonna watch it online here in a few... I hope it gets cool, cuz i really want a good superhero tv show... though i wish marvel or dc would just make one of their own... a Spiderman hourly show could be SO good...

    Its on Hulu.

I didn't have much hope for it, but it was overall enjoyable. The casting of the daughter might have been wrong. She could turn out to be nothing but a childish, whinny ya know what and that does not = enjoyable television.

The first scene with the wife's boss (Dad from 7th Heaven) you immediately know he is the bad guy boss man. By nothing he does, its just completely obvious non-originality.

As long as the series doesn't take itself to serious it could be good.

I refuse to watch this show on the grounds that I hate, hate the actress they picked to play the mother.

That and I don't find it that interesting.

There are several that could be easily done, in fact it would be cheaper for studios to have one hero with one set of powers.

    Good ones for TV

    The Flash
    The Question
    Nightwing
    Batman
    Daredevil
    Green Arrow
    Dark Hawk
    She Hulk
Superboy or girl (whole highschool thing)

i kinda like how they did that... it works for the context of the story...

I think that episode was cool, and i'm intrigued where it'll go... hopefully someone else with teleportation will show up... i love that power...

IDK. I really liked it and my mom did too, even though she's a bit of a hater when it comes to superheroes.

I watched it online last night as I had forgotten that it was coming on. I like Julie Benz, the reason I wanted to catch it. Sure some of the content was rehash of what has been done before, however there is enough there to make me want to see where it is going.

    Because he
was slated to get shot in the back (j/k and yes I know I spoiled it)
And from the looks of it, he won't be the only villian we see.

As for Dad referencing Superman, I'd say he's more of a friendlier version of the Hulk.

Anyone else think their city got a pathetic DA? lol I cracked up laughing when he fainted. Dude I could see him as more of an ADA but the DA? Wow. And the Mom's co-worker, laughable.

Will look forward to it on after work tomorrow.

Oh crap, I didn't know anyone had kept this thread going. I thought it had been flushed down the thread toilet. Glad to see I'm not the only guy watching it.
