I'm guessing no one watches the Simpsons anymore, cuz this was shown on Sunday night in the US, and I'm kinda surprised no one has said anything.

    linky

BBC News - Banksy creates new Simpsons title sequence

The whole vid is in there. Lets not get political, but its Banksy doing a Simpsons intro. Lets just laugh at the fun stuff yes?

In case none of you USers know who Banksy is, he's a UK Guerilla Artist. If you live in London you can be sure to have seen some of his stuff somewhere.

    Edit
Oh I forgte, BBC hates the US. Will this work?

Yeah. see that? I am a master of youtube...

Well that was...Dark. Surprised Fox is okay with that, as well.

To me, it suggested that the people who could've stopped it didn't even look at it, and they don't give a damn about the show at all so long as it's still on.

    LOLZ.

They've been parodying themselves and Fox almost since the show started anyway, I doubt that they would have a problem with it at this point beyond the broadcasting standards bullshit that is mentioned in the article.

If it is the case that the suits arn't paying attention to whats going on anymore or that the Simpsons team have the leverage to get more througth then other shows, the writers should be ashamed of themselves for not exploiting it more.

The discussion of it precisely demonstrates why they did it. Probably bought them another two seasons at least.

Shouldn't Bart have graduated from college by now and having his own family?
That is the one thing I don't like about these shows, nobody ages.
Plus the Simpsons are getting old to the point where their not funny anymore.

I still watch reruns during dinner sometimes. Haven't seen many of the newer ones though. Guess which episode is one of my favorites?

I think that cartoons are not for you, sir. Have you tried soap operas?

I love both the Simpsons and Banksy.

I'd probably watch it more if the newer episodes were broadcast with a more regular schedule. I'm forever turning on Sky here in the UK to find it's an older episode.

I'm slightly suprised at Fox's utter willingness to expose themselves. There have always been sly digs at the corporation throughout he show's history, but this is taking them to task in an exceptionally blunt way about their habit of outsourcing to Asian markets with poor human rights records.

I'm sure Banksy didn't miss the irony that some Korean colourists probably had to fill in the blanks on the very title sequence that depicts them!

I don't think you need to be British to get the joke either...

Incidentally if you don't know Banksy he's well worth googling. I think his stuff is utterly briliant, thoughthere has been a 'fucktard backlash' recently from clueless people moaning that his stuff is vandalism or complaining that if he sells any of his print work then he isn't 'street' any more. Both are bullshit. He had a street art documentary out recently - 'Exit Through The Gift Shop' which is hilarious. It's also started a debate about the possibility that the whole film is another of his stunts!

That part was especially poignant for me because I just finished reading a book about the recently-extinct Baiji (or Yangtze River dolphin) a few days ago. :(

Whoa, that's awesome in a dark way.

Sure, the Simpsons today may be a pale shadow of what they were 10 years ago, but it's still better than 60% of the crap on the tube these days.

They retcon the show to keep the ages the same. Homer and Marge met in the 90s now instead of the late 70s/early 80s.

The show itself has gotten way better these past few years, becoming more like it originally set out to be (aimed at adults). The problem lies with trying to appease the younger viewers, so you end up with good and bad episodes. This season hasn't been all that great since for whatever reason, they're focusing too much on Lisa.

As for the intro, I had no idea who that person was until now. It was rather dark.
