Yeah I'm not particularly sad to see it go, but I am glad I managed to go to one. E3 was just a glorified corporate hype machine.

Eh, I bet some other convention/show will spring up to take it's place.

Good. E3 was getting so pretentious and businessy. I'm sure that whatever fills the void will allow booth babes and be less exclusive. Still bloody hard to get into, but not because it's trying to be a traditonal trade show.

That's rather sad. You don't see the economical value that will be lost to Los Angelas from this, but trust me, come next summer, jobs will be lost due to one little trade show not being there.

WTF?!?! E3 time of the year was great! Watching MS, Sony and Nintendo try to one-up each other. Getting to see the latest trailers, and biggest supprises. And most importantly, knowing when to expect the big gaming news!! :banghead:  It was like pre-xmas xmas!

Now what are we going to do? Listen in on GDC?? Yes, because discussion on vertex shaders attracts sooooo much media coverage!

I have a right mind to make my own game industry trade show... with blackjack, and hookers... in fact, forget the trade show. :p

This is what happens when you take away the particular reason why fans go there: the booth babes. After you take them away, you know damn well E3's going to go to hell.

I have to agree. I look forward to E3 every single year. Although Im sure something will take it's place I don't think they'll ever allow it to become as large as E3. We'll see what happens.

The area around it is a total dump anyway. I wish someone would nuke it.

E3's kinda dull. The area it's in sucks, they'd be better rebuilding the whole event from the ground up, taking it back to it's "Media Only/Industry Only" stance and sticking with it. It was much more exciting then. More relevant too.

I wonder if it was because of the Wii's impact this past E3. Pretty hard to manage a line like that.

I'm torn, because the industry part of me hated all the fans in there, because it just bloated E3 into this ridiculous thing. It absolutely should only be something that industry and press can get in to PERIOD, so people can do their jobs. The time this little bastard (clearly under 18) skateboarded past me INSIDE the hall was the time where I realized that anyone and their dog could get in. There just needs to be seperate shows for fans. It's not an anime/transformers/sci-fi/etc. convention. It's a trade show....or at least, it's supposed to be.

However, the fan in me is upset because the 1st time I went in 2000 it was so awesome. I remember being like 11 years old reading Nintendo Power about all the cool new stuff, and ever since then I look forward to the glut of news around that time. Big chunks of news are always more fun than spread out news.

It has gotten to be ridiculous, though, even since the first time I went. Bigger, louder, more people, more booth babes, more stress. And being in the heart of LA makes it not even worth going to even when I lived down there.

It will definitely be interesting to see what happens from this news.

E3 is about doing business and showcasing to the press, if the big guys can't do that anymore, what's the point of showing up?
