i was expecting Dino to do some kind of hologram himself or disapearing just to appear behind a decepticon but non of this happen.tjat would have been a nice touch.

He gone missing from many scenes. I believe he's physically in the background but with his cloaking device activated

It could have happened, but was the character was renamed Dino, Michael Bay probably decided it against because it wouldn't make sense a character named DINO having Mirage-esque powers.

Damn, Ferrari is such a douchebag company:

Bay - "Hey, can I use Ferrari for one of the characters?"

    Ferrari - "Sure."

    *five minutes later*

Ferrari - "HIS NAME MUST BE DINO, NOT MIRAGE! HE MUST BE RED, NOT BLUE! HE MUST BE VOICED BY FRANCESCO QUINN! HE MUST LIKE POTATOES!"

Bay probably won't pick another Ferrari for his movies for a long while.

I bet Bay liked the name Dino, it's right up his alley. Not that his name really factored into the movie either way.

The effect probably wouldn't have come off as very plausible, even in the movie universe.

I like to believe Dino is a completely seperate character from Mirage and that Mirage can actually be introduced in a sequel if there is one.

Dino was such a background character, Bay didn't want to go overbudget and pay for a hologram Dino/Mirage

well, there were early designs of Dino/Mirage in "invisible" mode (and in the game, he uses it too), but in the movie, I dunno... not cheap to animate? he just didn't appeared/dissappeared on screen (background invisibility) or just it wasn't
