No eHobby (or other) Devastator variant?

Been looking for a lot of the eHobby Diaclone homages recently, and thought about Devastator.

With the opportunity for at least 2 repaint packages (and conceivably a dozen) and given Takara's penchant for repaints galore, 2000 - 2006, I find it odd that no Construction Robo (version 1 or 2) or one of those weird all-black or all-red "power up" variants were made.

Maybe it's a Tomy thing. Have they not done gen1 recolors?

No one else finds this a little odd?

Maybe a little odd. But also there haven't been too many re-colors of the 'large' reissues. Besides Ehobby City Guardian & lucky draws, none of the 'big guys' got recolors. No Sixshot repaint(not even a Greatshot release), nothing for Metroplex, Sky Lynx, Bruticus or Predaking.

Maybe they don't think they'd sell very well...and if that's the reason, they might be right.

Takara does seem to be slacking on the Diaclone repaints! I'm still waiting on the blue G1 Bluestreak:cry

Yup, you have options for all of those, except Sky Lynx? I'm not sure about him because I don't know if the original non-TF version of that mold came in different colors like Omega.

With online retailers, yeah true. I don't think Bruticus needed to be clearanced out though? I'm curious how each did at the time it was sold in Japan.

Me too. That would've made so much more sense than that chromed Bluestreak we got. I'm still waiting on the Hoist/Trailbreaker and both Blaster pre-Transformer redecos too.

Bruticus was on clearance shortly after his release; You'd have to ask some of our overseas for the official price but it was on sale.

Oh ok, thanks for the clarification. I didn't pay much attention after I got my two sets, but I didn't remember making the "Wow, ____ is still up on Big Bad now for $____ and it's still not sold out" or whatever.

    What's your question?

I said there isn't one. I don't think the 2 retail releases of Predaking is applicable to the idea this thread, much like 1st reissue, Hasbro reissue, TFC and Encore Starscream and still all just Starscream. Sunstorm's the "new" repaint of that mold.

Why include Predaking in a list of reissues without an ehobby repaint? Because it's a reissue with an ehobby repaint.

Again, what were you even saying with your first question? "Re-color of Predaking?" It sounded like you were asking me what the recolor of Predaking was but I had said it didn't have a recolor.

well to go by what i have seen the Encore Devy set hasn't been a fast seller, not sure if it is as slow a seller as the Hasbro Seacons or not.

It might that the slow sales numbers made them choose not to do any Ehobby repaints.

Exactly what I was asking. You wanted an ehobby recolor of Predaking in your original post, well, that's how it translates across to me. That is why I asked "Recolor of Predaking?" as in which recolor are you referring to. Get it now? All the other characters you mentioned not getting their recolours reissued are actual figures that pre-existed before. I do not know of a Predaking recolour, that is why I asked.

Your question was exactly what you were asking? Your question was: "Re-color of Predaking?" That is not a complete sentence, I don't know what you were asking. Evidently you were trying to say "What re-color of Predaking are you talking about? I don't know of any such recolor." I had no idea that's what you were trying to say, because we were both not understanding each other it seems.

    Here's my original post:

I did not say anything about wanting a recolor of Predaking. I said large reissues rarely get recolors. City Guardian & some lucky draws are the exceptions to that. Sixshot, Metroplex, Sky Lynx, Bruticus and Predaking are all large reissues that did not receive ehobby repaints.

"All the other characters you mentioned not getting their recolours reissued are actual figures that pre-existed before. I do not know of a Predaking recolour, that is why I asked"

Huh? I don't understand what you're saying here either. Are you trying to say all the other characters in my list have previous repaints that could be done as ehobby repaints? Like Metrotitan for Metroplex and Battle Gaia for Bruticus, etc? If so:

1.) Sky Lynx would then also be an exception like Predaking and

2.) Not all Ehobby repaints are based on previously existing repaints of the molds, for example: Detritus was a totally new character and color scheme for Hound, a mold that never had any previous repaints. So some ehobby repaint of Predking could have been done without a previous repaint of Predaking existing.

I think the Ehobby hype has slowed down since the early to mid 2000s so it might not be worth it for them anymore. The Skids two pack I think was a stinker I picked one up for $60.

That wasn't eHOBBY but Million Publishing.

And yes the eHOBBY exclusives slowed down after the original Twincast with Flip Sides, Laser Magnus, and Protect Black Ironhide. After that there hasn't been much.

Also, in regards to Devastator, as noted before TakaraTomy doesn't often redeco the larger reissues.

eHobby is working with tfcc now right? So if there is any possibility it would show through that outlet right? For some reason I thought ehobby were done with the takara repaint exclusives that used to release.

Anyway I would love to see more diaclone repaints as well.
