Matt Tieger of High Moon Studios and lead designer for the War For Cybertron game talked briefly with Kotaku.com, saying that there won't be any combiners (NO Devastator) on Transformers : War For Cybertron. (Well, Not yet anyway)

The original Article here : It Would Be Like Call Of Duty, But You Would Only Control A Leg - transformers war for cybertron - Kotaku

This news brings the "Devastator Boss Battle" rumor, to an END....

Good, starting simple is always the best way.

Gotta leave room to expand for sequels. Get the base engine, locations, and models down perfect first.

    Then later. Go hog wild.

Depends if those comments count NPCs.

But since they have trypticon in there to counter omega supreme. Probably no need for devastator.

Not surprising. I can live with it, but I'd like to see the combiners in future WFC fiction.

Good move. Best not to jam everything into one game.

Okay, i understand no gestalt robots, but if there are no combiner members like Breakdown or Aerialbots are playable, and are just NPCs. It sucks !!!

Not all that surprsing, and, for me at least, it's nice to hear. The can always bring them in for a sequel. WfC has enough homages and nods on it's own. Adding in combiners would be a bit much, imo. Plus they can always make a sequel's focus mostly on combiners.

Wasn't this confirmed way back in December in one of Gameinformers month long run of coverage?

His answer though could be taken a few ways, though the most obvious one is more likely. No combiners could mean none for the player to use or none at all.

Either way, I don't mind, though I do want some pretty epic boss fights and fighting a combiner or two would do just that ;)

I'm kinda relived. I'm SO sick of combiners. It seems like pretty much any Transformer nowadays combines with someone

I don't understand why we can't at least have the individual characters of the combiners, or Headmasters and Pretenders before they were that way.

We are, dude. There were already sightings of Brawl and Breakdown in the game preview stuff.

Can you imagine? You're a heroic kneecap pilot...the guy nobody ever thinks about, but every time the gestalt takes a step, you've got to carry the weight.

And then you see him there...Devastator...and with your kneecap-pilot training, you instantly spot his one weakness...

"Kneecap pilot to torso control, have acquired groin target. Request authorization to begin attack run."

Thats how it was in War Within and the Dark Ages. The Technology was being developed by Shockwave?? can't remember.. Anyway its not available to them yet.. And I for one would like to see a scene where Shockwave or whoever they choose...is working in his lab experimenting on some bots...tearing them down...building them back up.

Headmaster, Targetmaster, Pretender, Gestaults, and Triple Change tech will be in the works as an easter egg in the game I bet!
