    ***SPOILERS***

OK, if you've read the old draft of the script then you know a few things. Firstly, that the Ark is nowhere to be found. This has clearly caused some animosity amongst critics and fans of the film, as has been debated on these here boards. But if you've read the script, you also know that at the end of the film, Prime is seen standing on the top of Mt. Everest, sending out a radio transmission to all the Autobot refugees in space. Could it be that Prime intends on making Everest the Autobots' permanent base on Earth, just like Mt. St. Hilary was in the comics and toon? Most people get the two confused anyway, so why not? Not having a permanent base in this film makes some sense, seeing as how the action takes place over a matter of days, not years, so the bots would have trouble establishing a permanent base.

I think the Everest thing sounds do-able. Sets up the sequel nicely too. Any thoughts?

I’m thinking he’s up there because it’s the tallest mountain on the planet giving him the best signal.

Also it would be a dumb base as it’s so far away from anything.

People get a fictional stand-in for Mt. St. Helens and the tallest mountain in the world, half the world away, mixed up? :sly:

Wouldn't Prime get pretty freakin' cold at that elevation?

Sadly, the RSS feed strips out all the linefeeds and I got that full spoiler from the script anyway. Thanks a lot.

A base of operations so far from everyone (i.e. Megs and co) is a PERFECT base.

Until the Decepticons attack any city in the world and the Autobot have to drive there from deep in the Himalayas.

Either that or they could stay at a youth hostel. They're pretty cheap, and if they enroll at the 2 year junior college they can get a student discount

yea... re-read what you said and maybe you'll see how stupid that sounded lol ANY CITY IN THE WORLD so it would be different if they had the base on top of Mt Hood Oregon and then the Decepticons decide to attack Sydney, Australia... gasp that's the other side of the world! For any location you can make the same exact argument that it's too far from any one point. We already know that it's not going to completly take place in the USA. At least if it was on Everest (or in the general area) it would be more sheltered and isolated than if it was in the middle of someplace heavily populated like America.

Well, the thing is, Megatron got incapacitated by cold on earth, so it's indeed kinda surprising.

For space, we can make the hypothesis that their pod forms protect them somewhat.

But anyway, I don't think their base would be in Himalaya, especially since in the script's conclusion Prime talks about hiding in plain sight, and Ironhide's masquerading as that army guy's personal car.

Then again, Megatron disappeared one million (?) years ago. They could have evolved to handle the cold better, except when it's used in very concentrated amounts (as evidenced by Bumblebee's capture).

So if Prime is sending out a signal into deep space, what difference would it make if he was on a mountain or not? It would be like standing in waist deep in the ocean and trying to yell to the other side, rather than just standing on the beach doing the same.

Thats a good point as well, but he is a machine from space and im sure he can withstand extreme cold since space is very cold itself.
