Alrighty! Went to Target with my friend around 5:30am. We got tickets 49 and 50 OUT OF 60! GREAT SUCCESS! BTW. I'd also like to add their tickets sytem was VERY well done. Bravo Target.
The Wii works out of the box with WiFi. If you have a wireless router in your home, you are set. If you don't, you can buy a USB/Ethernet adapter, and plug your broadband modem's ethernet connection into the adapter, and plug the adapter into one of the Wii's USB ports.
Got one. And as a friendly public service announcement: Don't play Wii Sports boxing in public. Even with your friends. Sure, they'll say they won't laugh but THEY LIE!!!
Just got mine today and having a blast. All the games I have played are pure fun so far (Wiisports, Rayman, Excite truck). Just got to get my timing right for a few of the mini games. But the Wii is so far meeting every expectation.
Waited for 10 hours outside our Walmart...got there at 2pm and me and my girlfriend were 18 and 19 in line out of 20...stayed up till the 330am playing Wii Sports...I am in love.
Picked up my Wii this morning (preorder), as well as Super Monkey Ball, Excite Truck, Zelda, a Wii Points Card, and a Classic Controller. I haven't been able to play any games yet (I'm plugging away at a 2500 word essay for class tomorrow; damn you Twentieth Century Canada!) but I've set all the configurations on the system, made a Mii (looks eerily similar), FINALLY had the internet connection settings adjusted with the USB Connector, and downloaded some games. I especially like how the Wii automatically saves your progress in a Virtual Console game (like Sonic) when you quit the game, even if the game wasn't enabled for saving during its original release. Little touches like that, I very much enjoy.
Anyone who bought a Wii, who's also a football fan. Do yourself a favor, and BUY MADDEN! You have it for PS2/360/whatever already? Double Dip. It's amazing how fun Madden is with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. It's one game worth getting twice if you have it for another system already.
I heard the same from a friend who waited at Target. Said it was well organized, and they let people in three at a time to get their stuff. Wow....compared to Target, Best Buy's sucked. Basically, everyone lined up at the door...more like, they clumped up. Then the doors opened, and people ran like banshees into the store. I got everything I wanted, except for a nunchuck for my second Wiimote. But Zelda owns, hard. As does Red Steel. Wii Sports is pretty sweet too. Well, I think it's safe to say, Nintendo has won the next-gen console wars.
Hey, how warm are your others' Wii's getting? Mine is in the standby mode (turned off, but still monitoring for updates), yet my Wii is surprisingly warm without really doing anything. Seems like it's the kind of heat generated if the Wii was being fully used, but it isn't. I'm not sure how much I like the idea of my Wii generating a noticable quantity of heat all the time. This any reason to be concerned?
I'm just thinking over the long term, like months and years. I'm just wondering if the system's suppose to be that warm. How warm are everyone else's?
there's a way to turn it off off...there's three lights, green for system on and WiiConnect24 on, yellow for system off and WiiConnect24 on, red for system off and WiiConnect24 off. Or that's what i've read on Kotaku. AND DAMN, went to Circuit City, saw no line but saw a sign on the door saying "Wii is temporarily out" passed by Gamestop and saw a long line, same goes for TRU, Best Buy, and CompUSA. man, this sucks...hopefully when i go back to Oregon Wednesday, i can find one.
Picked up my Wii this morning, too. I arrived at 6:50 and I had to wait a little over an hour until a Circuit City employee passed out vouchers for the 18 Wiis they had. No hassle, and I even ate breakfast before getting in line (at 6:10 there were only two people in line, and they were warming up in their cars). I ought to open Zelda soon, I suppose. I haven't been able to stop playing Wii Sports. And in a few days... Metal Slug, and I will be happy.
