Looks like the wii has its place on top..
Shouldn't this be in Games and Anime?
To break down...
Nintendo has the fastest selling hardware, but nothing about games being as hot.
MS had the best selling game overall. I suspect though, that the Wii not only outsells by lower price, but the Red Ring of Death and disc scratching issues, which MS hasn't really done anything to fix, are still putting people off buying the console. I know I'm hesitant to plunk $400 on one knowing there's a possibility that poor design and assembly could kill it.
Sony can still barely give the PS3 away.
Guitar Hero was the biggest money raiser, likely due to it being an expensive game.
Read an Economist article back in the day about Nintendo. Since most money in the gaming industry is made off sales, they've consistently made more than MS or Sony because so many of their titles are produced in-house rather than by third-party developers.
So they can sell fewer games and have less market share, and still outperform the other two. And with the Wii performing as well as it is, seems they stand to make a killing.
Sources, people, it's really not hard to provide a link. Also, misleading thread title.
yea, ps3 has never interested me. ive thought some of the technology was cool but the price shuts the door...
Meh, I still regret buying my Wii. Lackluster Online Support, even worse worth while titles that aren't on other consoles. And it seems there are huge draughts between good games for the Wii, compared to other consoles. And other than Brawl, Nintendo has nothing I have a shread of interest in now.
Time to go help Sony, and buy a PS3 I guess.
You don't remember the first year or so of the PS2, do you? The drought of games was as bad or much worse. Now where is it? Dominating the hardware sales has always translated to getting the biggest library of games, since that's where the userbase is.
I keep hearing Wii people regretting buying a Wii and PS3 people loving their PS3 but hating their lack of games.
360 people are usually happy.
People complain about the systems for the same reason: lack of games. However, there's a lot more incentive to want to love one machine when you have to pay so much more for it.
This is true On the other hand, the 360 has had a lot more time to build a games library.
I don't hate my Wii, although I don't play it as much as I could...
Your on the money with PS3. It's great for Blu-ray however!
My 360 has two main games: Rock Band and Halo 3. There's not much else that I haven't already played/beaten/must have. Rock Band makes me happy. The fact that it's one of the only things entertaining me on 360 doesn't.
From The Kotaku:
And they also have the holiday season's results complete with enough corporate spin to dry all your clothes.
Sony -Lo Pan FTW!
I love my Wii. When I first got it I didn't play it much due to the lack of games but now...I have more than enough. I have a back log of titles that I haven't even gotten too.
I don't regret my Wii one bit. love the thing.
I can play battle tanks for hours with friends and i dont even need to see it in 1080i
And brawl will become the greatest game in the history of games
I have never regretted buying the Wii. It's been a blast for everyone that comes over.
Nintendo>everything else - does not mean - Wii>everything else.
What it actually means is - DS>everything else.
The Wii definitely has a lot of shovelware in its library, but that is no reason to not buy the system.
I don't have to buy Carnival Games and Horsez to enjoy Mario Galaxy and Metroid.
The PS3 is selling a bit above the 360s pace now. And Nintendo's doing fine with some games, mainly quality 1st party titles, but some 3rd party as well.
As for 360, it's my understanding that the new "falcon" design has fixed many of the problems.
