Yes, the DS is pretty much a Gameboy, but it is different and I want a gameboy!

The last release for a gameboy was that tiny little one and I didn't really like it, i sold it. But i kept my SP, Advanced and Colour.

Do you think that Nintendo should bring out a new Gameboy?

There were gonna bring out a GBA2, it was all ready but they cancelled it cause of the success of the DS

I don't think they should, it'd seem like a step back after the touch screen

I'd like to see a revisit to the first one.

Don't see why they should. They can put GBA-like games on the DS. Not every game needs the touch screen.

no. the DS is the most successful game system on the planet, with a massive library of great games.

nintendo would be stupid to bring out another portable system to either replace it, or compete with it.

A new GameBoy would be like a DS, but with fewer features. Why exactly do you want to downgrade?

    Source?

I remember nintendo considering a new gameboy, but they canned it long ago after the DS became such a huge success. I doubt it was "ready".

I support this 100%, but with the insane success of the DS, a new GameBoy would have to be something amazing.

If Nintendo really wants to make the next GameBoy and cater to GameBoy fans, then make something like a "GameBoy Quattro" / "GameBoy DS."

Quattro, for 4 modes of play. A system that is specifically built to play GameBoy, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, and DS games. With 4 libraries and 20+ years worth of games behind it's back, the system would be one hell of a device that is worth every penny. And to make it even more worth it, IF POSSIBLE, a system that is able to use most of the past add-ons and accessories from the older systems (printers, cameras, link cables, etc).

The system itself would also be seen as a "Thank You" to all the fans that have kept the GameBoy brand running for 20 years and a device to celebrate GameBoy's historic 20 years of gaming on the go.

I doubt we are going to see a new Gameboy. As long as the DS or DSi is doign well, we are out of luck. Thanks to Sony for making the PSP.

    Haha... yeah... new Gameboy...

I'd like to say yes, but my DS tells me to ram a pole up your butt and throw ya off a cliff.

It's the DS, I tells ya!

Am I the only person who likes the Advance SP more than the DS...?

    No.

To me, the DS and it's touch screen is not a new GameBoy, but a DS.

Maybe they should have called it the GameBoy DS.

If they want a new GameBoy, then I suggest they try the idea I posted above which basically is a special DS system that has backwards compatibility all the way to the original GameBoy games. Having a handheld with 4 libraries and 20+ years worth of games behind it's back makes it a hell of a device that is worth every penny.

You know I agree with what you said, but remember when the DS was going to launch? The gameboy was the almighty king of portables, and it was planned that nintendo would have some three pilar thing with the Wii, Gameboy and DS. So basically the DS was going up against the Gameboy (along with the new PSP). The DS did pretty well, and the Gameboy was king no more.

The DS is king right now, but Nintendo may have something secret just in case a PSP2 comes out. Until then, yeah, Nintendo would be stupid to launch a new handheld.

I enjoy my ds lite but what I dislike is that I would like to upgrade to the DSi but I don't like the fact of not having the GBA slot on the bottom of it to use for pal park in my pokemon games or just to play some old good advance games. Since the DSi has the new downloads shop on it we should be able to buy digital copies from all different eras of the gameboys and save them onto an SD card.

Pointless idea is pointless. The DS is the replacement for the GBA and whining that it isn't and that Nintendo should make you a new system just because you don't like the name or that you can't use it to play a bunch of old games that the market doesen't care about anymore will just get you laugthed at by anyone with an ounce of business sense.
