People who buy 360s certainly buy a lot of games for it.

    I know I am a 360 zombie.
Two weeks ago I bought DDR.
    Yesterday I downloaded Ninja Turtles.
    Today I bought Crackdown.

    Tomorrow I declare bankruptcy. :)

    What?
Obviously, from those numbers, the attach rate of software to hardware is pretty high for the 360.

I agree with Primus. There are about 10 million X-Box 360's, not sure if that is US or worldwide, so that is a lot of gamers out there looking for the next big game. The attach rate is harder to judge after a launch because of the large install base as time goes on. Not everyone who bought Crackdown bought a 360 since they already had one. The higher sales and numbers of 360 games in the top ten has a lot more to do with the larger number of 360 units already bought than it does with those that have just bought one.

How the hell can Nintendo be selling so many Wiis when none of the stores have them? ;)

According to NextGenWars, this is where we are on total sales figures:

    360: 10.7 million
    Wii: 5.0 million
    PS3: 1.6 million

I think it impressive that Wii has closed the gap by half in just 4 months of sales. If Nintendo can actually stick to its release schedule and deliver Mario, Smash Bros and Metroid by the year's end, I expect it to be almost caught up come the holiday season.

According to vgcharts.org, the stats are:

    360: 9.56 million
    Wii: 5.84 million
    PS3: 2.08 million

Actually, it has only closed the gap by a small margin.

When they launched the latest Nintendo console, the 360 had around 6 million units sold. Now they have sold almost 11 million units, so if you do the math, the gap hasn't changed much.

With Halo 3, Forza 2, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Lost Oddessey, DDR Universe, Guitar Hero 2, and Shadowrun coming out this year exclusive to the 360, I will be surprised and utterly shocked if the lead hasn't grown by January 2008.

They are closing in as a percentage, now just under 50%, and unlike some other consoles, they are selling as fast as they are made. If Nintendo can increase production while keeping the demand (a big if that will greatly depend on their ability to get good games on the shelves), they could have a chance to overtake the 360 this holiday season - especially if the Wii puts in a price cut (drop it to $200, even if it means dropping WiiSports as a pack in), as I'm not sure MS can cut the 360 yet because of the new and improved model (though I'd love to be wrong on that).

Halo 3 and Guitar Hero should be big sells, and we know Halo will be a console mover, but I'm not sure they'll be enough to let the 360 start to pull away. It'll be interesting to see how this develops, but as long as the PS3 gets crushed, I'll be happy. ;)

Halo 3 will push the 360 in to orbit, sales wise. Microsoft will be pushing it hard. They would be INSANE not to.

Yeah, but demand will slack off, and games are trickling out now, but how long will Wii owners stay happy with the simple yet fun party games for it?

Also, you can bet on a price drop by summer on the 360, they will want to but as much difference between their price and the PS3 as possible. Even if they release a new model 360, you can bet that the original Premium version will drop down in price.

Hehe, yeah, I am hoping that the PS3 does badly this generation. I really want it to be Sony's Saturn, not just for their hubris, but so that blu-ray will falter and fail. That way we can get some more studio support for HD DVD.

Indeed, I will be getting this game whenever it comes out.

Again, that's why I said it depends on N's ability to get out the big franchises it promised. Right now it's pickings are woefully slim, and the only reason I am itching to get it is for Zelda. Even so, I won't likely get one until June.

Hope so, as I currently plan to buy only one console over the next few months, and that's the Wii. But the 360 is definately in my plans once it drops price.

Exactly but the system is still selling...

Also I spend lots of time on my Virtual Console Games.......

As far as what's out now, Zelda is the gem but I do own a full half dozen Wii Games and I like each one.
