Nintendo takes the top 21 spots in this weeks sales chart.

One in particular caught my eye. #20 English Training: Have Fun Improving Your Skills. I know American culture is quite popular over there among kids and teens, but damn. Seeing that on there really shows just how popular it is.

I think the DS is rapidly approaching (may have even exceeded) PS2 penetration. It's huge.

Last I checked, the PS2 sold 120 million units, the DS a bit over 40 million, so it has quite a long way to go.

Nice point about the Japanese learning the english language.

The DS seems to be dominating the portable market and the Wii seems to be doing quite well on the console market.

It all comes down to games and recently I've been more on my DS then my PSP.

As far as the cosole market I've been mainly on the 360. I've hardly put much time into the Wii that I just a couple of weeks ago bought.

yeh ps2's about 110 million and i think the ds is on about 42 million at the mo i tihnk, but apparently you can't get them anywhere in japan and theres queues whenever they get them in stock, so if it keeps going like this for a while it does have a chance of getting up there with the ps2

whats the 2nd best selling console?

    The 360, i'm sure.

Seriously though, the DS is a demon. It may not be PS2 big yet, but it also hasn't been out nearly as long. I'm sure in its lifetime it will probably pass the PS2.

Does this really surprise anyone? This is Nintendo's renaissance, and to be honest I don't see them making any significant changes to the formula since it's working for them so far.

For North America, the NPD data listed at VGChartz has roughly 400,000 Wiis sold for April compared to 200,000 360's and 85,000 PS3s (I'd be more specific but I'm at work and the site is blocked).

Statistical projection (which by necessity assumes sales stay at current rates, which is unlikely) has the Will surpassing the 360 in total sales around September. Given that I have now seen Wii's in two stores in the last 2 weeks (as opposed to none in the prior 6 months), it may be that the supply problem is getting resolved (given that they didn't stay in stock for too long, I am guessing the demand hasn't dropped much).

I like how many of those "games" are actual games.

Man, the Japanese love that Brain Age-esque stuff.

WiiPlay is about to become the Wii's second 1,000,000 seller which I think is fairly impressive given the size of the base. Of course, mostof those sales are for the controller, so maybe it shouldn't count...

A little funny to see the PS2 continues to outsell the 360 and PS3.

Nintendo dominating the Japanese sales charts isn't worth starting a thread over.

What's next? Sun rises, no longer dark out?

4 out of 10 is not "dominating"

    But damn, those numbers... ouch.
