Neat, but what the heck would Metroplex look like in bot mode?
I also agree with the article/caption: it looks like a battlestar, too.

No idea, but it's just a vaguely interesting thought. The sheer impracticality of it being an humanoid robot would mean some interesting concepts (never mind the issue of the mess and death it would cause transforming).

It was more an impulsive posting, based on a tenuous link really..

well have we not learned with the movie-verse that anything is possible?

such as a machine in the top of a pyramid thats been studied for years and we just missed it?

but to keep on topic why could it not transform into a huge battle station instead of robot just like the animated movie?

I don't know...there's something sinister about the photo that makes it seem more Decepticon to me. Maybe it's the night shot. Anyway, it looks dang cool and I would love to see it as a city-former!

    ...

    That's a plot hole I hadn't even considered yet!

    Man, it never ends!

    Anyhoo, let's look:

I see the "front" of it at the top right, at least 6 legs, and draggy "tail" part that might partially fold up over or under the back to make sort of a ginormous crablike shape. Or it might stack on top and become like a mega-centaur-bug-guy-thing.

I could see that. It would make a lot more sense if it was a "new" airport that was built as cover to a NEST base or something, but yeah, I could see a big structure like that sprouting guns and defense towers and stuff.

Couldn't see it turning into a robot though. Too much concrete, not enough steel.

    Its a snazzy photo though.

    Scorponok!
Maybe there's an internal system just before transformation that teleports all personnel to an orbiting space station for safety and then a stasis field which freezes everything in place so the personnel don't return to all their stuff strewn across the floor and walls because their base got up and jumped about.

Or a safety sign. "For your safety, please ensure everything and everyone are securely bolted down at all times. EVERYTHING. Orientation of walls and floor may change without warning. Failure to secure objects may result in damage or injury, for which Metropolitan Express Reconfigurable Airport is not liable."

It's all purty and shiney. But that aside, I think Battlestar Francisco sounds fantabulous! I think it could transform into an insecticon with all its little feelers and tentacle-thingies. A new breed perhaps?

I'm reminded of Power Rangers SPD where the base transforms and you see the internal sections being blocked off and the rooms turning sideways.

I looks like a soul devouring, sludge spewing tribute to some techno-god to me.

    Which is totally rad!!

that never stopped a base-former before, lol.

A Scorponok-ish bot would be great for this!
and the fact this is an airport means that this could be a Seeker convention- wave after wave of Decepticon planes buzzing like a hive in swarm mode...
and the poor aerialbots being outgunned, can't beat that many 'cons back.

the old imagination is revving up thinking about it.
