Loving Nick Roches art on Transformers, even though I'm not a fan of some of the IDW robot designs and would prefer a more classic look, his sequential story telling ability and range of expressions make all his books worth reading.

Hm...kinda digging some of the designs. I'll probably get into this series. On a side note, Cyclonus looks like a mix between himself and Unicron.

Wow, THAT'S Chromedome? Sick! Who's the brusier to the right of Roddy with the shoulder cannon?

I like it when artists try something new. It's not like 20 issues of guys tracing toy diagrams and animation cells.

Personally I love it when somebody takes some element of the toy design and exagerates it to make it a feature. Part of the reason I love Battletrap and Slamdance is the original box art made the toys look interesting, even if they were from the "dark ages of Brick". To this day I love to draw those guys. Even if my drawings look very little like them.

Man what is with the stupid goofy overly cartoony look for Transformers comics these days? Cant they just give us the nice normal DW style and be done with it? Sadly as i was thinking of getting these books the art style (not to mention bloated price tag) puts me off.

Not sure - yet. It's like Dealer/Clouder's shoulder cannon (Stalker had a similarly large one too), the helmet borrows some elements from Blaster and the bulk reminds me of Rhinox or something lol.

If the other related covers we've seen recently are anything to go by, 'extras' could be identified by delving through Action Master characters on the wiki.

Why is this guy doing Transformers? That art is way too cartoony. Looks like Looney Tunes characters and not Transformers. Yuck.

People said similar things about DJWs animated designs, and while not everyone ended up loving them the overall opinion changed in favour of the show once people actually saw a few episodes.

His style is getting a bit too cartoonish, needs to pull it back a bit. Too hard to recognize anybody. I miss Figuroa...

Hmm... the guy with the shoulder cannon might be Tigertrack, Clamp Down or Deep Cover or even sideswipe.

Mystery character could be Countdown, the Micromaster who had a Universe Ultra recolour from the Cybertron Defence Red Alert. And it's this more recent interpretation, with the massive rocket on the right shoulder, that this guy looks like. I'm even more certain that's Countdown making a one panel appearance in the most recent Collectors Club comic, again in the updated form, though contrary to Roche's illustration he has a visor and no chin strap. So, maybe, maybe not; just my best guess without hitting the wiki pages.

Nice! Can't wait to see it in color. I especially love the designs for Hot Rod and Chromedome(??). Giving Drift the noseless Prime face is an interesting choice, since he's the only one with that design.

I'm so stoked for this comic! :thumbs2:

That worked well for Animated. It doesn't work for G1 themed Transformers. The designs don't mesh with that Looney Toon style. How does IDW expect non Transformers fans to even be interested in this book with that art? Where's the great artist like Don, Guido, Casey, Milne, EJ Sue?
