That's kinda screwed up for a doctor to do during surgery. I hope he gets put in his place for that.

I can understand putting removable tats on kids, it lifts there spirits and makes them feel better but a 30 something year old woman below the underwear line WTF!

She should have eaten an apple a day...

Eh, that was in bad taste.

Anyways, I got to agree with Prowl on this one, definitely the "creepy" factor.

I can understand giving patients a temporary tattoo as a gift, but first ask them if they want the gift. Also, it's fine to give them the tattoo after surgery, but ONLY THEY THEMSELVES should apply it onto THEIR body IF they choose to do so. No one else but yourself should be allowed to place a tattoo on your body, unless of course you want the other person to do so.

Doctors giving patients small gifts has been going on for ages. When I was a wee lad, I used to always get Transformers and Dinosaur stickers after each checkup. And after getting a shot, I got to pick a band-aid, and sometimes a trip to the toy store, courtesy of my parents, after getting multiple shots. Those things hurt like a mother!

    Okay, back on topic...

Waking up and finding something on your body that wasn't there before and doesn't belong is creepy.

Waking up and finding something on your body that wasn't there before and doesn't belong there in such a place as where this woman found her tattoo is INCREDIBLY creepy.

It's so scary because you are completely vulnerable during the surgery, allowing the surgeon to do whatever they want with you while you lie there helpless.

This was completely uncalled for and I hope that surgeon, no matter how well-renowned or beloved he is gets what he deserves for his incredibly creepy actions.

Like I understand marking up bodyparts for surgery, but this is just.... weird.

Temporary tattoos on patients? Sounds fine.

One of a rose below a 30 year old woman's panty line? Er, a line's been crossed.

So yeah, he should be disciplined. With a letter or warning or whatever. But I don't see why this should cost him financially or result in anything like a suspension.

I want to believe the surgeon was genuinely trying to give his patient a laugh, but the choice of location was dumb. A smiley face on the back of the hand would've been plenty.

Still... I can't see how it's worth her getting "extremely emotionally upset" and suing. But hey, lawyers need vacation homes, right?

    I had the same thought!

This brings up a phenomenon that I see more and more, and find VERY creepy. I'm constantly seeing 5-to-10-year-old girls with elaborate temporary tats on the lower back.

Elementary school student + tramp stamp (even if temporary) = :confused2

It could have been FAR worse...

-"I just want you to know I'm very serious about what I do."

-"Did you stitch your initials into me?"

    -"That's not important..."

    :p  Gotta love Scrubs

As far as she knows, if he did that especially since he would have explicitly had to turn her over to do it, what else did he do? Did he fondle her? Did he do other lewd acts like are done when people are put under for dental reasons?

It is a sign that she was violated outside the capacity of physician care. That is emotionally upsetting that you were 'unconscious' and something happened to you.

The fact it has to be investigated for wrongdoing and validated by other doctors that nothing went wrong shows it is wrong by itself.

That's another question, Were there any other doctors or nurses present when he did this during the surgery? Or was he alone when the tattoo was applied?

And if other nurses and doctors were present, then did they question the Surgeon's actions or try to stop him? Did they allow the application of the tattoo to happen?

Did he take pics of her and put them on the internet? Did he install a tracking device in her vajayjay? Did he do any number of things that he could have but can't be proven?

I mean, yeah, he shouldn't have done it--provided it was actually in a scandalous spot. But it's not THAT big a deal.

First of all, it's not like the staff left her on her face. They would have turned her over before she woke up anyways. Two, it's not like surgeon was in the room with just her. ORs just don't work that way.

He made a joke. It didn't work. He should stop doing it. But arguing for "emotional upset" based on what you think could have happened is silly and whiny.

And the dental thing--isn't that like an urban legend substantiated by a half-dozen examples? I mean, how often do you think that happens?

I don't see the problem with the tatoo, just the choice of location. A moment of poor judgement by the doc. Does she deserve to be financially compensated for this... no. An apology from the doc should be sufficient.

This. There is no way he would have been alone with her. I would assume that the other OR staff would notice if the doctor was doing something inappropriate.

For the most part, these situations work the same way as the OR. You are never one on one with the dentist. There is too much liability to be stupid enough to do this. The worst thing that might happen when you are out, is a hygienist or assistant might pull your tooth if it is easy enough. At least that is what I have heard... yeah... that's it.

The other stuff you hear about are isolated incidents like the priest who "touches" the alter boys, the police officer who gets caught with child porn, etc. These are the exceptions and not the rule.

But that is the point, you trusted someone to put you under for a single medical reason, and you wake up to find that they did something else, outside the realm of what they were supposed to do. It is a violation of trust and could be very damaging for people.

    And it happens.

FOXNews.com - Nurse Sent to Prison for Molesting Patients Under Anesthesia - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

It may be uncommon, but those who do it seem to be frequent offenders. The tattoo thing is WEIRD ENUFF that it is skating very close to this frequency and depending where he is putting them, how different is grabbing a boob and applying a tattoo, they are both unwanted physical touches while the person is unable to protect themselves.

He could put a rub-on tattoo on me, wouldn't bother me, but that is the gamble you run when you do something like that.

If a temporary tattoo, while inappropriate, is very damaging to you, you're a big [CENSORED].

I get that weird shit happens, but people win the lottery also. It doesn't mean it's likely, even though only the winners are reported in the media.
