I like it, but since I already own the original Energon combiner I think I'll pass.

 

Personally, I'd rather see a new Devastator done in the same vein as the other Classics. This isn't a "Classic", it's a repaint. Didn't like it at the Con, don't like it now.

Its a store exclusive. If it didn't exist, a new mold Devastator would still not exist.

Costs a whole lot more for Hasbro to create new molds than it is to repaint old molds.

 

How do i get one? Do i really need to go to Macdonalds and buy a happymeal? 

 

I've only just started collecting transformers since G1, in the past year so this has probably already been discussed before but why are there doubles of molds in a constructor set???

To me its like paying for 3 characters and getting two repaints straight away, what a downer.

Don't get me wrong, I actually think this Devastator looks cool but gotta get more creative. Give us 5 different molds and not just 3.

Edit: Plus G1 Devastator was a 6 combiner.

 

As a designer myself, i can only see a poor effort. im not keen on the whole classics line. The designers brief must read CHEAP.
the designs and materials are bad! jetfire and bumblebee are the only acceptions, just about....IMO

 

Well, just looking at him, I'm thinking of possible modifications...

First, get a KO Devastator component (or rather a spare) for the chest piece and the head. Can't remember which came with which though. Still, 2 bucks there.

To get a cement mixer, take one of the Cranicons and attach a cement mixer barrel. Plus, that means arm cannon in Robot Mode! BFG-style arm cannon too that'll make 'Mixmaster' all the more threatening! He just won't mix stuff in his barrel - he'll mix your atoms with those of the air!

And to get Scavenger, just modify one of the ends of the 'dozers' to give it that of a construction vehicle.

As for LongHaul... well, he was tired of hauling their junk around, so he 'dumped' the team!

 

MEh. I'll get it since it comes as a giftset and I dig that, but it's not super pretty or anything.

 

Ah, then you missed the Energon line. The Energon line was the first to feature some new, honest-to-goodness 5-member interchangable combiners since G1. But, to get these combiners out on the cheap, there were only 3 molds per set- the torso/ head piece, and 2 of each limb. They're all fairly nifty (despite Superion's crappy pin that makes him bow down to the other sets), and worth looking into owning. Frankly, if there'd been 5 molds per combiner, they'd have been better than G1. All the pieces (claw-hands, feet) were a part of the bots in all 3 modes, so there's less of a chance to lose them. Heads were hidden on the leaders, so they just didn't have to show up out of nowhere. I'm not buying the repaint (probably), but I like the original. In fact, I think I'll get the 3 of 'em out tonight for some combiner fun.

This is something I would be INCREDIBLY interested in seeing, and if the results believable and sturdy enough(mostly the scavenger mod) I might be willing to pick one up and pay whomever for services rendered.

 

I am not feeling this repaint. Aside from the colors, there's nothing classic about this set of figures at all. I'll stick with the G1 Devastator instead.

 

Nice repaint, but I think I'll passon this as well since I have the original Energon molds.

However, it should be a sweet set for those who missed it while back. 

 

A gripe that has been around since the Energon combiners were released.

 

Yeah, I'll probably own these.
