Are the Alternators - specifically Mirage - still available from retail stores, or has the line been discontinued?

I've been looking all day for one to purchase, but the only retail listing, Toys"R"Us, has them "temporarily unavailable" and every other place I've found them has been for a jacked-up price for a used one or a massively jacked-up price for one from somebody's collection...

I'm not a collector, so I'd really just like one to play around with, but not a loose one because there's a certain part that people say they keep breaking when they transform it... I'd like one that's not already broken.

I'd be grateful for any information you can give.

Wal-Mart carries Alternators. That's about all I know.

Mirage is, in my opinion, the best Alternator mold. You would do yourself justice to get one. If it costs you $30 on ebay plus shipping, its worth it. Such a great toy should not be trapped in a box. Take it out, and get your money's worth.

    Ebay:
It's gonna depend on the retailers in your area. It's kinda odd, some stores carry them and some don't, even in the same chain. I have 5 W-Ms in the area, but only 1 still carries them. Of the 2 Targets, only one carries them, and both TRU dropped them. It's kinda hit and miss, but they are still in stores, and Mirage was in the current/last wave.

If you have Meijer stores in your area, they seem to be above average for finding Alternators, at least ones near me. I've seen Op Prime, Mirage, and Camshaft relatively readily (though right now it's just leftover Meisters)

Try www.hasbrotoyshop.com (though their customer service SUCKS, IMO). Many/most Walmart stores have some of them in stock (I have recently seen Skids, Rollbar, Ricochet, Tracks, Meister, and Optimus Prime at Walmart stores around me).

I've seen Mirage 3 times at the store. That was months ago now I don't see them anymore, occassionally I still see alt Prime but no Mirage. And if you want to talk about rare try getting Camshaft. It's the only alt that I have never seen in stores.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Do you guys think that TRU.com will get more stock of Alt Mirage anytime soon? I have a $10 Google Checkout certificate that can be applied toward TRU, and being a poor college student, that's about the only way I can afford it.

Apparently, the next Alternators wave contains Mirage at one per case of 4.

However that wave is taking quite a while to appear........

I thought I heard March as being the last push of alternators.

Well damn... I went to three Wal-Marts in my area, and none of them have ANY Alternators. All they had was about a million of the "Prime vs. Megatron" pack, and a bunch of boring three-inch figures.

    Ugh, this is getting frustrating.

There's always a few Alts collecting dust on the shelves here. It's just that no one wants what they got, I guess, or like me, have what they want already.

I'd say finding Mirage at retail now is going to be pretty tough...they were hard to come by when it was first released last summer, and it seems (around here at least) that the places who actually DO stock Alts right now only have the shalfwarmers (Prime, Rollbar, Ricochet, Sunstreaker, Skids, and Tracks). I'd echo that ebay is probably your best bet at this point.
