    I'm just curious:

I'm heading to New York City on Friday for my birthday, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any cool hobby or toy shops in the city. I've been there a ton, but never really looked around for anything like this.

I know Midtown Comics carries some stuff, but I'm looking for more.

Suggestions? Some "hole in the wall" type places are definitely welcome!

ImageAnime has import stuff but they're usually higher priced.

There's also a basement mall in Chinatown but it's mostly Gundam, I think.

Toy Tokyo. I haven't been there in a while but they had a few Henkei and Masterpiece the last time.

I went to a few with someone from the board, but that was a good 5 years ago. I remember hitting Image Anime (still kicking myself for passing the Shining Magnus they had), Toy Tokyo, Midtown Comics, and a couple other places, but I don't remember what the others were.

Chinatown, near Elizabeth street, there is an underground mall. Next to it, around the streets are several stores, they have some henkei stuff, some old and new stuff, but not only transformers as well. THey have Saint Seiya, SoC, Busou Shinki's and other lines. The prices can be negoiated.... if you know what you are doing

If any of you are fans of other jpn figures (gundams, SoC, robot Damashii, Fix Fig, revoltech, figma, busou shinki, SRC, Saint Seiya, SHFigarts) and anime stuff (and imported games), it would be good to visit the Elizabeth underground mall and things around that area.

To maximize potential you would want to:

    1. Have an EXTREMELY good eye to check for KO of anything vs. legit.
    2. To have the ability to bargain. Helps if you know their language as they usually cut you some slack (Cantonese mostly)

Don't bother wasting your time. Realistically, the TF market is DRY in the big apple. All of the places that use to have HUGE sections of TF are dried out. Trust me, I work in the city and look when I can. It is extremely rare that I find anything. Even if I do find something it is like 2x the price I could find it here. It is even more expensive then EBay.

If you really feel like wasting your time looking, here are the places you can look for:
    - Image Anime
    - Toy Tokyo
    - St. Marks Comics
    - Forbidden Planet
    - Elizabeth St Mall (Downstairs - go after 2PM, they rarely open early)

If your looking for KOs, forget it. Even Chinatown doesn't carry KOs anymore.

They do. You have to know where to look, and whom to ask. I got KO's from there.

I went there in late February and went to a store called Kinokuniya. It's like a jpanaese hobby shop that had the BBTS-excl. Seacons, Trans-scanning BB, HftD BB prime, and some other things I can't remember. Dashopcorp, in Chinatown, also had the OP vs Megatron deluxe classics pack, some movie stuff, but also had a gazillion Gundams if you're interested. Also a Yugioh Duel Terminal if you're into Yugioh.

EDIT: oh yeah. Forgot to mention Forbidden Planet, but someone already did.

Oh, if you know the addresses or cross streets near them too, that would be uber helpful as well!

Is there any RotF or newer line KO's? Because a saw a few things I would've picked up that seemed pretty reasonably priced, but then I remembered what you guys said and decided to pass. The boxes seemed really, really legit, but still didn't want to chance it.
