Just in case any of the other VOTOMS fiends here missed it, trailer for the new OVA series is streaming here and you can find it embedded here if that isn't working well for you. Anyone know how many episodes this is going to be? I usually wait for series to finish and watch them in one go, but i'm not sure whether my willpower will hold out in this case if somebody starts subbing it on the fly.
Looking good. I need to get my hands on the VOTOMS set soon. I've been wanting to get some more classic mecha series. RabidYak, according to AnimeNewsNetwork.com, its 12 episodes but I have no idea as to what kind of release schedule it will have.
The first DVD is going to be released at the end of October, with 2 episodes. Bloody expensive for the fans to complete considering the price of a DVD in Japan.
Cheers, hopefully it won't be too spaced out. While were here, is there anything recent in this genre that I should be checking out outside of the usual franchises? Maybe i'm looking in the wrong places, but there doesen't seem to be an awful lot of these sorts of shows being made thesedays. No kidding, i'd lock my DYRL disc in a safe if I had one.
So what exactly is VOTOMs? By what little I know is that it's suppose to be a realistic mecha series. My interest came when Dream Pod 9, the creators of Heavy Gear, said that their mechs where inspired by the show. Espically their Black Mamba Gear.
Its an 80s war show about a special forces mecha pilot that has to go on the run from his military and a shady society after inadvertantly getting involved in a dodgey mission that ends up being part of a much larger scheme. Its unusual because allot of the technology, warfare and setting is relatively grounded compared to other shows. It also has characters that generally arn't either good or bad and shedloads of old fasioned mecha carnage. The stuff in the above trailer is a new prequel OVA series.
