Great detailing. The cities look good. I can even see some of the highways connecting them. When you get this done, Primus will definitely look like a planet sized TF, instead of a moon sized TF. :D

Hey Mike, that's some really cool stuff you've got going there. You have any wire frames you can post up? Also, are you using straight polygons or sub-D? oh, and what's the current count?

I dont know what sub-D is but as of these new screen shots, the polycount is around 115,000.

I'm gonna finish up the top of the chest area, then finish up the side area's of the chest before moving onto the head :)

I know, there's lots of screw ups lol but Im short on time and if I wanna chance at completing this guy, I need to just throw it together. Although I am trying not to keep things too symetrical

    yes he will transform :)

Woah that's great. If you get the chance add in extra city detailing all over the place that the toy is missing. Sweet.

    Hey, nice update there.

Sub-Ds are Subdivision Surfaces, or in MAX, known as when you MeshSmooth something.

Primus looks sweet, still I'm not sure the scale of a planet sized TF can ever be properly realized.

Even if you go by the G1 cartoon which showed Cybertron about the size of Earth's moon (as oppsed to the Size of Saturn it's refered to in the text of the G! comic) it's bot mode would be (pointless?) taller than the earth from pole to pole.

Even if once assumes all of Cybertron's cities are the equivilent of NYC's for Fortress Maximus sized TF's they would barely show up on a model.

But DUDe I can't wait to see that done. Even parts of it will make great set pieces for back drops.

oh ok. nothing is mesh smoothed, I can never get that to work properly, im still pretty new to modeling.

everything you see I just started with basic shapes, moving the vertecies and faces around. lots of extrusions, lots of booleans. that's all I know how to do really lol

and about the size, I dont think Cybertron is all that big IMO. I was looking at lots of g1 pictures of the planet, and when the whole planet is in view, you can easily make out buildings.

I know my scale is no where near what it really should be, but it's enough to tell its a planet.

p.s. been at the gf's last day, havn't been home to work on this guy, but I'll be home tonight and hopefulyl have a good update for the morning :)  Id really like to get the entire chest and head done tonight so I can start working on the shoulder pads.

I've got some really awesome suprises for those area's, now that im getting towards the outter shell of the planet ;)

little update here. I finished as much as I plan to do with the chest. It doesn't look like I did much untill you check out the second picture, which actually took me a while :p  hence, not having time to do the head tonight.

All that empty space on the back there will be covered up by another chunk of planet with even more crazy amounts of cities :)

ignore the measurements this person put on the image, they are meaningless:

I think it all depends on which continuity you go by. In Dreamwave G1, Cybertron is the size of Saturn which makes a hell of a lot more sense than being smaller than Earth.

I agree with Cybertron being the size of Saturn. I can't think of any logic reason why Cybertron would be smaller than Earth. Especially if its a world full of gigantic robots. They would of run out of living space long time ago.

Although, the % of the Earth's surface that we inhabit is very small, and cybertron would be completely covered, not to mention, many of the G1 cartoons showed many, many sublevels to Cybertron, so that could make a much greater amount of living space, even for Giant robots.
