I'd be all like "Woo!" if it wasnt for that stupid face. he looks like he's confused about what just happened, and doesnt know what he's doing there.

I'm really not liking the direction this series is taking after the style set by E. J. Su...

It all looks pretty good, minus the face. wtf....

I'm curious to see some other pictures from this showcasing the head designs a little closer.

A touch of the familiar with the classics body.

I like the fire and the surgeing wires.

It looks like it's based on the Sideswipe/Sunstreak Universe mold (not just the tail light kneepads - the side of the legs as the back of the cars and the doors hanging off the arms).

I like the style - it's a good meeting point between the 'classic' G1 style - ie distinct solid limb segments (eg his upper legs) and the 'movie' style - ie parts of his vehicle mod breaking down as opposed to just sitting there or disappearing (see split tyres on his shoulders)

As much as I love Don's art and the movie designs, this is meant to be a reimagined Generation 1 universe. It seems they're straying a little too much from that. Su's work rocked and Nick Roche knocked some excellent material (Spotlight: Kup is still one of my favourites). I suppose I will get used to it, though...

Well I am going to buy this series as I enjoy great stories, and Don's art is good. My only issue is that the faces look like to me as if they are a G1 face but with their metal "skin" taken off and we are looking at their skull. I think Don is a great artist, but I just dislike the feel that he is trying to combine G1 and movie designs.

So by "Movie style" did he mean "explosions on every page"?

Hmmm. I've tried looking at it again and again, and even just from this single image, I don't think I'm going to be a big fan of this hybrid style; sorry, Don, but something about it - especially the head - just looks off. Of course, I can't make an informed decision from just this, but it certainly doesn't do anything for me so far.

And looking at it yet again, a question springs to mind...is this a Hasbro directive to bring things more in line with the movie look, or an independant IDW/DF style choice? And if it's the former, is this possibly the shape of things to come as far as Universe 3.0 is concerned?
