are they making a new transformer cartoon series?
TF HEROS. AKA THE END OF ANIMATION AS WE KNO IT
Transformers Heroes last I heard David Kaye is playing Prime
yeh i heard about that too...lets wait an see
There is a new series being made for after the Movie, probably to premiere in early 2008. David Kaye is reportedly playing Optimus, Tom Kennedy (Spongebob Squarepants) is meant to be providing the voice for Starscream.
Provisional cast details suggests that the Autobots will be Optimus, Ultra Magnus, Bumblebee and I think it was Prowl, fighting Megatron and Starscream. The setting is meant to be a "not too distant future where humanity possesses robot servants which are commonplace". Cartoon Network is closely involved in the project, I think they are co-producing or something? At any rate, it's being made in the west, at least as far as cartoons get made in the west these days.
David Kaye? The only character I know he's played is Sesshomaru on InuYasha and I just can't see that voice fitting with Optimus, but maybe he has more of a range than I give him credit for.
I had no idea there was going to be a new series but I might as well check it out when it starts.
He has also played Megatron for the last ten years or so, every TF show from Beast Wars through to Cybertron with the exception of RiD. Also played Trieze on Gundam Wing, if you want to hear a slightly different side to him.
I will make judgment, after I will watch the first episode.
I heard its supposed to be animated like Justice League, or Batman - The Animated Series.
So, it truly is the end of a good run of Transformers cartoons... (my opinion)
I like that animation and think it will go well. I think a full 2D animated series will be good, as long as its done good unlike Armada and rushed. Now do get me wrong I did like Energon and Cybertron, but 2D just has so much more charater in the animation and you can capture so much more in it too.
If he does Optimus' voice like he did Savage/Noble's voice in beast machines, I could totally hear it fitting.
I've heard that the thing is supposedly on tap for an August 07 premiere on Cartoon Network to followup on the huge hype for the feature film.
I agree. I love the animation in those shows and I think it will lend itself nicely to TF's
Unless it's truly diabolical I'll make judgement about halfway through the series; Armada didn't get good until around then, and Energon was good until about then.
I'm really looking forward to it. Love David Kaye, I think he can provide a really great Prime if he uses the Noble voice from Beast Machines. Hopefully this gets Transformers out of the crap that has been Armada and the recent Cybertron. I liked Energon, but something happened that it started sucking.
Maybe this will finally meet near the level of Beast Wars, since I compare all TF shows to that masterpiece.
I am so freaking pissed about this show.
For one reason.
Annoying turd sacks (AKA, children) as 'Bot allies. (it was annouced some time ago that there would be atleast one child)
Every series for me sans anything before RID has been ruined by the inclusion of kids. G1 got away with it since Spike and Bumblebee were actualy useful. ENG almost had it with Kicker (who actually took part in combat) but again, annoying-turd-sack syndrome stuck again.
I swear, if these kids are whiney, screehy, useless liabilities like the rest, I will...
...not watch the show.
Because it will suck.
But then again, it might not...
...Then I will rejoice.
It's an North American written 'toon. I'm sure the human characters will be a lot better blended than the Japanese stereotypical "the power of our courage and love will make you stronger" crap.
But then again, all cartoons nowadays are always trying to be like anime.
In fact some are even anime ripoffs.
(I'm looking at YOU MARATHON!)
Be awsome if the kid was like Ender Wiggen from Enders Game
