I Have to respectfully disagree, if Optimus Prime was functioning as a military professional, ie a General, his overall emotional out cries would essentially be unacceptable responses to scenarios that require a level head, the line in the wrong context just seems out of character. This is simply a main stream Optimus Prime which when taken with a grain of salt is actually pretty damm funny ("Give me your face") but, I disagree with him being a military professional and being a bit more of a military stereotype for the masses to relate to.

As for humans being killed in other incarnations, a direct your attention to Transformers All Hail Megatron :) .

Good screen caps....Ive never been fond of the voyager megatron mold...These screen caps show its pretty far from accurate...I really like the thick strong looking torso in the CGI model...and the bumper is angle the wrong way on the toy..

I like the CGI waaaay better tho..

For all the folks upset at "we will kill them all," try looking at it this way. "We will kill them all" is the modernized version of "no matter the cost." The movie making industry pretty much believes nobody has the brain capacity to make the rational connection that the cost may be death. Kill them all is simple, to the point, and prevents anybody from having a brain sweat.

Frankly, the only problem I have with it is we haven't gotten much of the calm and rational Optimus we all think we know in the movie-verse as a counterpoint. These bloodthirsty moments would really mean something if Prime had more moments of rational leadership and calm decision making, but apparently there's no time for that in our six hours plus of total movie time.

While I REALLY don't like the 'kill them all' bit (yeah, I'm one of those suckers who believe heroes should be BETTER THAN the enemy) I rationalize it as such - the live films have done an exceptional job of getting the rest of what Transformers is wrong (see: humans killing Decepticons with handguns) what harm is there in making Op a prisoner-executing, Mortal Kombat style fatality committing psychopath? I mean, the Nazis did it and they were cool, right?

Heck... He's like 'The Punisher' for these movies. XD

NF - observe the context, don't get hung up on the 'nazi' word. It's mean to elicit a common behavior trait, not imply Op is two steps away from throwing up the salute. Of course, it's also meant to point out that the 'this is war!' crowd should remember what that means.

People upset at the "We will kill them all" need to look at the movie in-context.

Even going off the trailers, they're levelling Chicago and taking out civilians. I think that's an appropriate response by Prime.

He's violent in DOTM, yes, but it's not as gratuitous as "Give me your face" in my view.

I think you seem very confused about what you're actually trying to convey. Standing up to a group that's attempting to wipe out another is very different to BEING the group trying to wipe out another.

And I don't see how saying war is ugly implies that everyone involved on all sides of a war are comparable to Nazis.

I'm sorry, Nazi is just a very, very loaded word full of meanings, intended or not, that put a very twisted perspective on anything it's tossed at.

I didn't say that saying 'war is ugly' implies everyone has to bad. In fact, I would say (and be backed up by things like laws, domestic and international) that war DOESN'T excuse or allow for excessive cruelty. Is that realistic? Maybe not, but neither are giant (leg-humping) robots. There's room for fictional behavior in fictional works, like the victimized heroes being magnanimous even in the face of a ruthless threat like the 'cons.
