    Good day everyone!

I am new to the boards here but have been a TF fan since I was a child. Well, I am going to begin collecting the figures/toys and am puzzled where to start.

I really enjoy the original G1 series so I thought I would begin with the Takara TF Collection series. I see there are 20 made. After that not sure where to go from there. I have surfed all over and there just does not seem to be a place that shows/lists out all the figures with images for each series. Am I wrong with that statement?

    Thank you!

Welcome to the boards! If you're a fan of G1, you should check out the TF: Animated and the Classics/Generations line of figures as they do a great job recreating the original characters, yet at the same time manage to maintain a new and modern sense of style and usually have great articulation.

I would recomend the Masterpiece series. They are highly articulate and detailed versions of G1 characters.

Masterpiece Prime and Megatron start with those.

    Welcome to the boards :)

It can be intimidating to begin a collection. I would recommend taking a look through TFW2005's resource section, there are photos, bios, and other goodies about toys from every generation. I would start off with the characters you like the most and go from there :)

Welcome to the boards! Another great resource is to use TFW's Feedback Forum. Any new toy that is released, both G1 homages and newer figures, are more often than not reviewed there. Best of luck!

either start with reissues (you've found the tfc series, there's also the encore series) or classics, which are upgraded figures of g1 characters

www.tfu.info can be a great resource as well. It' divided up into series or by name or any of a miriad of other options. Not a great deal of info on really recent stuff but the older stuff is great.

Always easy to start with whatever you can find on the shelves right now.

Thank you everyone for all the good tips! I will begin my collection with the Takara TF Collection and go from there.

Welcome to the boards! I also recommend starting with classics figures such as the generations line and RTS lines. Some great updates of figures. And since they are starting to get some decent market penetration they are becoming easier to find.

I just started collecting again a few months ago. My advice is to start with masterpiece and the gestalts (predaking, devastator, etc) and then buy the 3rd party pieces.

I completely passed on animated, ROTF movie toys and all the new stuff that is coming out. I'm just not impressed by them.

Welcome earthling! :)  I'd recommend the new Generations line.

Well it sounds like you know what you want already! I just started collected a year and a half ago. I started in the wake of RotF and was getting those toys, but then in catching up on TF lore I got hooked on the Classics, Universe, and new Generations lines.

If you think you might be interested in Generations (or Reveal the Shield) at all, now's the time to buy, when they are on actual shelves. If you want them later...it will be more difficult and pricey. Heed my voice of experience...
