After reading the article in Nintendo Power here are a few highlights, some not in the IGN article.

-Smash Bros. like game with some differences
-Items appear on stage (health restoring pizza confirmed)
-Designs for Turtles based on 2007's TMNT Movie
-Guarantees that you won't here phrases like "slice and dice" over and over again
-Color coded glow so when camera is far away you know which Turtle is which
-Can set to KO or Health Meter and probably both in options to win a match
    -Music is original
-Modes so far are: Story, Battle Royal, Tournament, Winner Stays/Loser Stays, and Practice with some to unlock
-Can play with Wiimote or Wiimote/Nunchuk combo but another control style is being worked on for "advanced players
    -Unlockable characters and stages
-Can walk up walls for a short time to save yourself from falling
    -Mirage Studios helped select characters
-Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Splinter confirmed with Shredder strongly hinted at (duh)
    -May be mulitplatform
    -May have DS connectivity
-When asked if there would be different visually styled stages based on different Turtles continuities the answer was "In terms of art style, you could say we have a look that changes as you progress through the game, like an evolution from the realistic to the fantastic. We've also got some surprises in there for fans of the Turtles."
-Worked closely with Mirage Studios on storyline
-Not tied to cartoons, comics, or movies
-Stages will have a lot of interactive elements.
-Stages include Turtles' hideout, Manhattan rooftop, a jungle stage with crocodile, a sewer stage also with crocodile, and a Japanese castle with lanterns that you can interact with to set the stage on fire.

The game looks very promising. It is definitely on my watch list right now. Hopefully they will take some of the best characters form all the Turtles media and use them as fighters.

I'm glad the Turtles designs are taken from the 2007 movie. I absolutely loved those designs when I saw it last week.

OMFG! (and I don't use that phrase lightly now...)

I am very very excited! A little bummed I won't be able to do (and say) "CHEST BUSTER!!!" over and over and over again while fighting...but all the same...

Actually hehehe, I started the thread about the new Wii TMNT game, but you updated it with the Wii Smash Bros info... thread Merger anyone.

Oh and BTW if this game is as good as Smash Bro.s this will be my reason to buy a Wii, hands down.

    Just saw the scans....

    I'm getting a Wii.

According to the Nintendo Power article, this has not been confirmed as a Wii exclusive. When NP specifically asked the question to Ubisoft about is it Wii exclusive or a timed exclusive, they gave no comment. This feels like Mega Man 9 again. That game was first announced for the Wii and they were talking about 'the first new NES game in 15 years'. They never actually said it was exclusive, we just assumed. Then, a week later it was announced for PS3 and X360. This new TMNT fighter could end up going to the PS3 and X360 as well.

    Characters:

    Confirmed:[IMG]
Leo, Raph, Mikey, Don, and Splinter (game graphics will look just like 2007 CGI TMNT movie)

    Strongly Hinted: Shredder

Since 2009 is the TMNT 25th anniversary (comic began in 1984), game will be released in September 2009. Story is written by TMNT co-creator Peter Laird. All new original story may end up being a sequel to the movie since at the end of the movie Karai hinted at the Shredder's return.

Other Characters I'd Like To See: (from entire TMNT mythology w/ CGI look)
    Bebop
    Rocksteady
    Krang (but badass)
    Karai
    Hun
    Baxter Stockman (fly or cyborg?)
    Rat King (2003 cartoon character)
    Triceraton
    Slash
    Metal Head (robotic Ninja Turtle)
    Casey Jones
    April O'Neil
    Foot Elite
    Usagi Yojimbo
    Gen (rhino friend of Usagi)
    Leatherhead
Ace Duck (w/Air Force flight suit and badass like X-Men Arkangel)
    Hamato Yoshi
    Oroku Saki

Im thinking the characters will come from the comics the latest show and not the 80's cartoon. So no to a bunch on your list.
    But you never know. :)
