It's just the old size chart again, anyways.

You see two sets - one has Season 1 bots compared with Movie bots.

The other has a scale of the planets (Unicron to Cybertron etc.)

The last has Raiden with some Headmasters, Predaking, Hot Rod, and Kup.

There is no "new image", as most of these images are the classic ones seen in the old "Transformers Universe" profiles by Marvel.

I always find it interesting looking at how TFs line-up with regards to their size and scale. Of course, I prefer a more realistic scale myself but the cartoon at least corrected some of the scale issues that the toys had.

    Good find!

Yeah, it is Earth. In the Cartoon, Cybertron and Unicron were both about the size of Earth's moon, or a little bigger.

Yeah the dinos do look a bit big there. I know they're supposed to be pretty big, bigger than Ironhide and co, but not nose-to-nipple with Devastator.

It always strikes me as weird that Cybertron is so small. I mean most of the TFs are twice the size of humans, give or take. Yet the planet is so much smaller? Even with added density from being mostly metal, the gravity would be much less than Earth's, and that just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I don't believe the Dinobots were ever drawn bigger than Optimus in the cartoon. That chart is pretty weird in that regard.

Cybertron being smaller than Earth is definitely ridiculous, at least in my opinion. The only way to justify it is to say that the bots inhabit more of the surface area and below than is possible for humans on Earth. Regardless, I don't see why they couldn't have just made Cybertron bigger.

Actaully I don't recal them ever being side-by-side in the toon, but they were often shown as much larger than the regular Cartoon Autobots such as Wheeljack and Bluestreak, moreso than Prime himself was. The Shots of Dinobots fighting Devatator also tend to conform to the size chart.

The toon often did strange things with scales anyway, particularly as much larger characters like Omega Suprime and Devastator started appearing.

Optimus and Grimlock were side by side in the episode where Megatron almost convinces the Dinobots to switch sides. Pretty early episode. I may be remembering wrong, but I seem to recall Grimlock and Prime shaking hands at the end, both equal in height. If I'm remembering correctly, it could just be an error in scale like you mentioned.

Edit- I just checked it out. I was right about the occurances of the episode, War of the Dinobots, but I was wrong about the scale. Grimlock was drawn about a head taller than Prime, and wider. However, the difference in their size didn't seem to be quite as extreme as in the size chart in that episode, which is why I may have remembered it incorrectly.

So then I suppose it can be assumed that the size chart is a little bit off in terms of the Dinobots, at least according to some appearances, but not by nearly as much as some of us were thinking.

For the purposes of the cartoon, it might be safe to assume Cybertron was given an artificial gravity and atmosphere by the quints. Perhaps they wanted to engineer the TFs somewhere that had similar conditions to one of the planets they might be sold to.

I personally believe the scales are perfect for the most part.

The Dinobots "should" be the size shown (although the cartoon made mistakes by making them barely taller than Prime on many occasions). I also like that Huffer and Brawn are not that much smaller than Hound & Mirage. Ratchet, Ironhide, & Trailbreaker are accurately shown to be taller than Jazz & Sideswipe. Skyfire's size also make sense since he should be able to fit at least two minicars and one regular-sized car within him in flight mode.

My only disagreement is with the Decepticons; Megatron, Shockwave, and Soundwave should all be the same size.

I do agree that the Dinobots should be bigger than Prime. I just thought it was weird at first because I didn't remember them ever being quite as big as in that chart in the cartoon. It's just due to what you said I suppose.
