I really really doubt it'll be over 200 before shipping. 1 basic and 1 deluxe at Botcon, bagged, were $54 and 1400 were made. The rest is math... kinda... with some variables...
This is excellent news! I just hope the price is reasonable. Oh, and whats the deal with the new Stegosaurus minicon HACKSAW? Will we get a toy of this fella?
Highly doubt we will see a toy of him. Think of him as a "Furman death" character, they didn't receive toys
Wasn't it stated previously that the Universe Seacons were already made, they were just sitting in a warehouse waiting for someone to "pick them up". If that is the case, then FP won't have the added cost of any remoulds or the developments costs involved, so they should be able to get them out pretty quickly.
I've heard it speculated, but never really confirmed in any way. I would have assumed if the toys were already produced (especially if they've been sitting around near as long as the first announcements f the Universe Seacons) they would've been shunted to Hasbro Toy Shop if nothing else by now.
You should. You go to Botcon, I see you every year...its worth it just for that! Plus free toy (that you pay for with membership) and you can be admired amongst your friends!
SEACONS!!!!!!!!!!!! SWEET! I'm thinking these will retail between $125 to $150 given the price of last years Club Exclusives. Still hoping for that Elita-One too... Oh, and it's looking better Pete, keep up the good work.
Yes, the free basic is quite nice (even if I don't much like 2 out of the 3 moulds so far) and the one dollar Botcon discount makes all the difference.
Ehhhh, another exclusive I have zero interest in. I appreciate them digging up some G1 goodness but I just don't want the Seacons. Hopefully the future will bring something better.
Damn straight it does! Its that extra dollar you can keep and take back with you and exchange for 20cents/pence whatever...
For price speculation.... I wouldn't call the limbs "basics" or say Snaptrap="deluxe" exactly. They may be similar in robot mode height to them but robot mode height does not equate to cost. They are much simpler in design than modern basics. The RID Ruination limbs retailed for $5 right after BM "basics" had retailed for $7. Though the Seacon limbs might agruable cost more than a Combaticon limb given their bulkier size and additional gun stand accessories. But approximate the retail value as: $10+5*$5=$35 or $10+5*$6=$40 and that's a very similar total to the retail value of Astrotrain which is $25+$7=$32 or $30+$7=$37, depending on what you call the retail value of a modern "Ultra". I'm sure the Seacons will be boxed like Astrotrain, but I don't imagine they'll have any remolding which I would guess is a bigger factor in Astrotrain and Airazor's "costliness" than most people account it to be. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised to see the Seacon set for as low as $80, though I'd guess $90-$110 is more likely. $150 would be the highest cap I'd believe possible right now.
The site still relies on a hard-coded size, and doesn't allow HTML to take care of the page width. So we've moved from the early nineties to the late nineties. I guess I can live with that. And while the idea of the Seacons is appealing, I'm almost certain we won't actually see them produced until after we'd all have to renew for one more year. Having just sold off my last remaining vestiges of club membership for the two years I've joined, I feel pretty confident that I won't be re-upping come renewal time. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong and they actually do produce the Seacons before I'd need to renew. It's the first thing the club has done outside of the Classics at BotCon this year that's really wowed me.
