The Chewbacca/Han Solo set was more interesting and better executed than pretty much everything released in the Cybertron line except Primus imo.
Dude, Vader is the Optimus Prime of the Star Wars toy line. He gets a basic figure released in every other wave. He usually gets an average of 5-6 figures a year.
Eehhh, if it looks decent I might pick it up. £30? Then its the same size class as the Falcon... (in SWTF terms the Falcon was a deluxe) and that was quite good fun. If the planet mode looks good, the laser dish thing lights up with proper sounds, and the bot mode is decently articulated and a DECENT HEAD I might pick one up. But thats a lot of 'if's.
... Because there's no way a new mold could possibly be round? I can't see any way it'd be a Primus remold. Since the Death Star doesn't look like Cybertron and Vader doesn't look like Primus, they'd need to remold at least the entire planet surface plus the head. They'd also need to either change the geared transformation system or replace the Omega Lock with something Star-Warsish. Those changes would be far too extensive to be more cost effective than a brand new mold.
I agree, although I'd call myself a casual SW fan at best, it seems to me it would be more fitting to mold the Death Star as Darth Sidious or Grand Moff Tarkin or at a stretch Count Doku. But I can see why they'd mold it as Vader to shift the toys.
And Vader works as a marketable toy. A Death Star that transforms into Tarkin doesn't really work in the same way.
It would REQUIRE Kettle Drum sound effects though. And a vacuum cleaner accessory. Oh the fun they could have with sound chips. "Megamaid's gone from suck to blow!!"
Of course it's marketable, but that doesn't make it any less inappropriate or stupid. That's like making a Home One type MC80 Star Cruiser transform into Leia because she's marketable and was on the ship for a briefing.
