It's a few obscure Japanese games and one Euro game as far as I am aware.

And you can't even play those Japanese games here anway so...

Although I cannot find a link, here's the press release from SCEE.
The terminology 'broad' and 'limited' concern me with their vagueness.

I like how the first article actually tries to spin it like it's a good thing.

I hope Sony's PR guy gets paid well. I don't think I would like that job. He is the Tony Snow of the video game industry.

Cheaper=better, but less (I'm guessing next to none) PS2 support=very bad. Who cares about PS1 support over PS2 support, really?

Broad full speed ps1 software emulation = eazy as hell
Emulating the ps2 on anything but a per title basis is probably a huge task.
    Still terrible move sony.

Cheaper= better, but in this case, it's only better for Sony. I don't think Sony is going to knock even $1 off the PS3 price, so in actuallity it's not cheaper for us consumers at all.

Now I could be wrong, and Sony MIGHT drop the PS3 price in Europe (which is unlikely) because of cheaper manufacturing cost. And if this is the case, I'll be jealous of the European PS3s.

With me, I would get a PS3 that didn't play PS2 games at all, if it was cheaper. I'll just hook up my PS2 to play the PS2 games. I have a PS2 and a Gamecube, so switching consoles wires isn't to difficult.

Oh Yeah, forgot about that. Now since they are paying more then us and Sony is spending less, Sony should do the right thing and drop the retail price. And I won't be jealous if Europe see a price drop.

All I can say is that if I lived in Europe and was interested in getting a PS3, I'd be furious. Since neither of those are the case, I just barely care enough to post. This is pretty lame of Sony, but it doesn't affect me.

    Limited PS2 compatability = bad.
    Cheaper = Good.
If there's a significant improvement in the cost then I may actually buy one.

There are a lot of "ifs" and "whens" involved there. I'll worry about it if and when those ifs and whens come to pass.

Of course it'll be cheaper! Instead of GBP600 it will be GBP306.348! Of course it'll be the same as 600 dollars, but hey, who cares about the letters in front of the numbers, right?

Sony seems determined to see just how dedicated 'Sonyland' really is.

So first they copies the rumble feature and the analog stick from the N64

Then they copied online play and the hard drive from the XBox.

Next they took motion-sensitive controllers from the Wii.

Now, they copy limited backwards compatability from the 360.

    :p
