"Punisher" Cut To A PG-13 (August 14th 2008)
Guess they hope to sell more dvds.
Funny how the studio gives it to a director determined to avoid every mistake the first film made, then kick her off it and make altogether worse ones. I was kind of looking forward to this. It looked like it might just be the crazy violent Frank Castle film I wanted to see. But I suppose I'll just be waiting for a Director's Cut now. And I don't mean an unrated cut; I mean that maybe they'll bring her back in to complete her film, score and all.
I was actually considering watching this movie after that ultra violent trailer.
Not anymore...this PG-13 neutering needs to stop.
Now there's a ringing endorsement of the movie. I wasn't too confident about War Zone being worth seeing anyway, but it really doesn't speak well of it if the movie doesn't have a good enough script and other factors to still be interesting without massive amounts of stylized violence.
(stands at the precipice... fists clenched and shaking them in rage...)
Knew it was going to be bad, now I'm sure.
Can we just call this thing a "train wreck" and get it over with???
Punisher War Zone = Epic failure
wanting to see it sight unseen ---> seeing the promo shots and learning no Jane and NOT wanting to see it ---> uber violent trailer and being willing to see it ---> to this and no f***ing way I'll see it
Unless there is an unrated director's cut (or it gets a Rifftrax) I will not be seeing it.
Bravo idiots in Hollywood. You failed on all accounts..
If they had gotten Jane again, made it uber violent, and done a reboot like Incredible Hulk it would have been awesome. But nope they are fools and f'ed up a good thing.
Well the Punisher is fucked over for the 3rd time!!
Y'know, at this point, I'm inclined to just give the film a pass. Maybe on Netflix.
eh, not even on Netflix. This film has screamed "CRAP" from the minute Jane left it. The last one was really cool (great drinking film BTW) from him being blown up through his fight with Kevin Nash til the way he kills Travolt and his family. Personally, it was an epic film, and I may watch it tonight. Anyway, back on track, I still think this guy looks more like Steven Segal than Frank Castle and the stylized Matrix crap is not what teh Punisher is about.
To me this movie looks like it was made for MST3K after seeing the comic-con trailer.
Fail. Wasn't all that interested in seeing this when learning Jane wasn't involved. The trailer didn't make me feel any better.
Wow. I'll be missing that then.
Now I am on the fence, and inclining to skip it.
I've had zero interest in seeing this from the get-go. Once I heard that Jane was gone and the reasons why he left, I knew if the movie ever actually got made it would suck incredibly hard.
Okay, this is a reason to bitch sight-unseen. I mean, seriously? Your gonna take the Punisher, one of the most violent comic characters ever, and make him kid friendly? Really?
I will still give it a rent...............I'm a Punisher fan...............
They should have just cut it down to direct to DVD and saved everyone the trouble.
