This. 100% this. The Autobots need more leader class figures. That and Ironhide is my favorite character besides Starscream. So if TFTM3 somehow puts out a Leader Starscream and Leader Ironhide in the same movie line....(my brain just exploded..)
I think Autobots need more new Voyager molds! Besides Stratosphere, there weren't any new Autobot Voyager molds, at most we had Recon Ironhide which was retooled. It seems they fixed this by scaling them down to deluxe though. Perhaps they're saving new Voyager molds for movie 3?
Considering how bad I thought this figure was going to turn out, I honestly really like it. I'll be getting him, but will use him as a Classics Trailbreaker.
Well, this figure is nowhere near as nice as Recon Ironhide. The deluxe-class Ratchet worked because the Voyager mold sucked, but Ironhide has a good enough Voyager mold that this is unneeded.
Bah, I keep looking at this and thinking 'sweet', but being deluxe size just sucks. Wish they'd put those feet and head on the voyager mold. Standing up properly > stupid automorph gimmick.
I really don't understand why so many people don't like the Voyager Ironhide mold. I have the original from the first movie, and it's honestly one of my favorite figures. A lot of people complain about the chest pieces, but they're one of my favorite parts, and super movie accurate. I personally think this Deluxe version looks horrid.
The voyager's chest is the least of my dislikes for that mold; it's the skinny arms, tiny thighs and blocky legs. The deluxe Ironhide looks a lot more stocky and robust, and generally better proportioned. Admittedly, I think the colors could have been better, but oh well.
