I don't know how anyone wouldn't think that's Soundwave based on the head, the arms, the torso, and particularly the legs (they're the most telling).

I just can't believe Hasbro would not make a toy of a on-screen character nor that Japan is making a toy of a villian on thier own (given Japan's tendancy to short-change bad guys in toy form). Maybe Hasbro has a tweaked version in mind? Or a version based on whatever will come of MECH's work on his body?

Also Knock Out conflicts me, I love the shiny paint but that engine block... It's a good way to hide a mechtech port but his hood becomes a focal point of his robot mode, meaning that it ends up ruining his look there in a way.

 

I've already got AM Breakdown on order, but didn't anyone ask Hasbro about Breakdown at Botcon??

I totally agree. Seems like most think it's Soundwave but I'm not sure what they're seeing. There's nothing boxy about the chest area at all in the image. Actually the closer I look, I was thinking it could be Hound if you look at it from a certain angle and the legs and arms would sort of fit his shape. Obviously, minus his rocket launcher though.

 

nothing boxy? His shoulders to his forearms are practically a perfect rectangle for the casettes 

 

Breakdown looks perfect. Can't wait to get my hands on him.

Breakdown preordered. Had to get a Takara Voyager Megs anyway, too.  

Still not sold on either version of Knockout. I liked the look of the paint, but now that thing on his chest is bugging me too, and that thread about Arcee not looking shiny at all like the Takara promo pics has got me worried.

What do you think the odds of CHMS doing a knock-off Knock Out (heh) with proper colours are?

Sucks that you can't trust Takara these days, though I feel like I'm taking less of a risk on the voyagers for some reason...

I'm not sold on the Knockout being that color either. I hope he is.

 

I broke down and ordered a voyager breakdown from etoys japan, not overly thrilled with the AM stuff but I'm not playing the Hasbro lottery and risking missing this guy.  

 

I'm starting to think that actually might be Soundwave. Looking at that last pic, you can see a very square finish to his lower chest inside his right arm (viewed from the pic).

If it is, then he better be at least 10" tall or there'll be hell to pay.

okay... if that's the second Masterpiece Prime shown with Sideswipe, then he'd be clocking in roughly the size of Classics Sideswipe... or maybe one of the Alternity bots. That confuses my brains.

I was picturing him close to the size of the Alternators/Binaltech line, but this is considerably smaller. I'm wondering what could warrant the $139 price point for that size of figure.

 

Actually someone posted a pic of Alt Skids next to MP10 in one of the many threads discussing this topic and comparing the drawing of MP12 & MP10 to the pic of MP10 and Alt Skids, MP12 should be right around the same height as Skids, maybe 1/2 head shorter.

 

Sideswipe comes up to just below the silver stripes on Prime's chest, as seen below:





The mockup pic of Sideswipe below should be enlarged to where it comes up to the red line. It will be Alt/BT sized.

 

I don't think he's quite as big as you suggest. A fraction bigger than my mock-up, I grant you. But look at the 2D drawing and you can see the tip of Sideswipe's head is well below the panel line which runs horizontally across Prime's bicep (the bit which is wrongly coloured white in the drawing, and which your red line goes straight through on the photo).

I am happy to be proved wrong by the final figure though!
