Bulkhead and Prime look amazing, might have to import them both ^^"

The Vehicons...I'll wait for the US release so I can get 10 of them for army building.

Can't wait to see how Takara decos the others.

Optimus looks very similar to the US version in these pics, unlike the other pics I've seen so far. Does it still have the darker grey plastic and the darker metallic blue parts/paint?

Bulkhead: I still can't tell which version is closer to being 'show accurate' in terms of color. Going to need some side-by-side toy AND screenshot comparisons.

You see..this is exactly what I DON'T like about a lot of Takara Tomy releases...shiny paint jobs and by extension chrome. I really, honestly hate it in many cases. I can understand Optimus having a shiny paint job as he's a stylized trailer truck...but Bulkhead? WTF is up with the shiny paint on Bulkhead? It's pretty repulsive.

A jeep/SUV of Bulkhead's make is the LAST thing I'd want to look like some kind of metallic racer wannabe. To me, a paint job speaks a lot about a vehicle, and a shiny, high maintenance paint job like that on a SUV is just atrocious. I LIKE the matte green that's on the Hasbro release...it's much, much more fitting.

If anyone needed a shiny metallic paint job it's Cliffjumper. Oh well...

It's metallic plastic not paint, and the shade of green is closer to the animation.

I don't like it when they're packaged in robot mode... But I won't be getting these anyway so I guess it does not matter. :)

I believe he was more concerned with the shininess than the actual shade of green.

I'm somewhat inclined to agree with him, but moreso because I'm certain I'll never be able to afford the Takara versions. >>

Just the Takara versions. Only one I'm tempted to buy is bulkhead... But I'll probably end up getting the Hasbro version.

Okay, gotcha. Thought you were passing on the TF: Prime toys altogether. That right there....would be crazy talk.

I think for me, I'm going with Takara's Bulkhead based on screen accuracy. The way the CG models is rendered in Prime is more metallic/reflective, and a darker shade of green. Whereas with Animated, I preferred the Hasbro versions because the flat plastic better emulated the look of flatly-colored cel animation. Takara's Bulkhead feels like he captured the on-screen look more effectively to me:

    Rendered Bulkhead

I'm honestly having trouble seeing any difference on the others, though, aside from the Vehicon. Prime looks about the same to me. And US Arcee already has slightly metallic plastic, so I think she'll meld well with Takara Bulkhead. Maybe they have slightly different shades here and there? At this point I'm thinking Bulkhead and Vehicon are the only ones worth importing.

EDIT: Actually, you know what? I can't tell the Vehicon differences either. I thought the Takara one looked darker with more silver highlights, but looking back at the (heavily processed, as usual) Hasbro images I actually don't know any more either. Maybe they are essentially the same after all!

I did wonder why Arcee looked so strange, her chest piece is mistransformed. :S
