as cool as S is, I'd MUCH rather they made one from their D model
Baby steps man!!! Baby steps!!!
But I'd rather have Yamato Scopedog. I like them chunky.
As nice as the pictures look I'm happy with my Bandai and Toyami collection of Valkyries (with 2 Yamato Valks thrown in for good measure). When I start making more money I may get one but for now $175 is too much to pay for something I have in abundance, even if the quality is much better.
IF the VF-0S sells well (and I think it will) we'll definitely see more single seater variants from Yamato. There's Shin's VF-0A and Cannon Fodder variants which will probably be released. I already have Focker's VF-0S on hold so it's just a matter of time.
The two seater VF-0D is a bit tricky though. Yamato hasn't shown too much love for those kinds of Variable Fighters. Sure, they released the Super Ostrich and Elintseeker in 1/60 scale. But it's been a few years and we still haven't seen them in 1/48 scale.
Yamato would need to make a brand new mold (seeing as how the Zero two seaters are much more complex than their sucessors) and retooling. Personally I hope it's done because the VF-0D is GORGEOUS.
A VF-0D.... a bot can hope, can he not?
yep, its gorgeous And infuses what I feel is much needed variety in the line...
True. I'm not picking up a VF-0S for that reason. It's essentially the same. That and I already have a whole pile of 1/48 VF-1 figures. So, yeah. But I would SO buy a VF-0D I love the blue colour scheme and the delta wing and two seater thing just look so damn cool.
BUT THIS IS ROY'S ORIGINAL FIGHTER!!!
The ONE SINGLE Valkyrie I would DIE for if they made it would be the VF-1MS... I can only dream though...
These are gonna look GREAT side to side.
All these "G1 Jetfire" type fighters look the same to me. I don't see why people freak out every time a slightly different one comes out.
Because they're some of the best designed transformable mecha ever made.
Sure they're expensive but once it's in your hands you can see that it's worth every penny.
I want to get two of these, one for home the other for my desk at work.
Puts on Wayne's World voice...
"It will be mine...oh YES....it will be mine"
Oh yeah, I was planning on only getting one. I was like, oh cool. Then I thought I'd get one with the fastpack armour. Well... six months later and I have seven with two more on pre-order. This is basically what my 1/48 collection looks like:
-VF-1S Roy w/fastpacks (robot mode)
-VF-1S Hikaru w/fastpacks (robot mode)
-VF-1J Hikaru w/fastpacks (robot mode)
-VF-1J stealth w/fastpacks (robot mode) <-- preorder
-VF-1A cannon fodder (gerwalk)
-VF-1J Hikaru w/fastpacks (gerwalk)
-VF-1S Roy (fighter)
-VF-1S Hikaru w/fastpacks (fighter)
-VF-1J stealth (fighter) <--- preorder
I just can't get enough of these guys!
It's an acquired taste...
And Jetfire is a wannabe valkyrie... Not the other way around...
But I can see why some would wonder why we get excited for this stuff...
For me, it has a lot to do with the fact that I loved Macross and Robotech... The mecha designs were amazing for its time... Even the Bandai ones that were made into Jetfires later on...
These Yamato lines are one of the cream of the crop for me as far as toy designs go... I can't think of a whole lot that impress me more than these guys...
Granted most of them are repaints/remolds, but this is where the appreciation for the Macross anime and Robotech cartoon come into play...
For me, I loved the Macross anime and Robotech cartoon much more than the TF cartoon... I know, blasphemy right???
But the anime and cartoon delved so deeply into human nature and it just makes it such an awesome series to watch and love...
With the TF cartoon, each episode was about Decepticons up to no good and Autobots saving the day... With no casualties... Decepticons always retreat... Autobots always win...
Not so with Macross and Robotech... The anime/cartoon dealt with constant losses on both sides with casualties... And these "robots" actually had human beings inside, which means when one is blown away, a human loses his/her life... The death of Roy definitely hits home more for me than the death of OP... Again, blasphemy right???
It also dealt with relationships between humans/aliens, as well as humans amongst themselves...
And when you have such great heros and heroines in the series, you associate the toys with them... Which is why I get excited when I see these...
Not only are they some of the best engineered toys, but they also offer sentimental value...
For me, this VF-0S is GREAT because it was Roy's first valkyrie... This says "blueprint" to the VF-1S...
I know, this is a lot to read... But I'd say that the majority of people excited about these valkyries are also BIG HUGE fans of the anime/cartoon... And in essence, they are not much different than say Gundam... They all follow a similar design right??? But they're like one of THE best selling toy lines EVER...
WHY DON'T YOU HAVE THE MAX TYPE YET???
I just placed a preorder for the 1/48 "Super" VF-1J Stealth Type - with Missiles & Armor from BBTS...$200. It's my last treat to myself (the Matrix statue was supposed to be, but oh, well) for a while. I've got a bunch of the Toynami Masterpiece series, and I dig them, but folks on this board have made the Yamatos sound like the best damn transforming toys ever. So I'll blame you all if I hate it.
I was never into the cartoon, though--I just dig the toys for being transformable robots. If I wanted to get into it, does the story start with the 14-disc Robotech series released in 1985 (I'm looking at Netflix)? And where does it go from there?
