dude, "bummer" was the exact first word that crossed my mind.
they had a good run there. credit to them for not devolving into a retro/novelty band by actually keeping up with the times. in that sense, they actually progressed better than the likes of say, U2.
When The Good, The Bad, and The Queen break up, I"ll be bummed. NO was alright, I hope they get back togeather someday and tour the states.
A shame, I always dug New Order, especially seeing where they came from with Joy Division.
I thought they had already. They have been very quiet in the last few years. They had a great run though. *runs off to put on Substance*
They always had good stuff. I've never even heard any of their newer stuff.
That is sad news. I heard a little of their newer stuff a few months back (got interested so I looked it up online), and it wasn't bad. Nothing as good as some of their past hits--which is probably why they called it quits. Seems like they've been kind of on-again off-again for years now though.
Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, and New Order was what was good about 80's New Wave. I think NO did alot for electronic music and are absolutely brilliant. Aside from Bizarre Love Triangle and Blue Monday, I loved True Faith and Ruined In A Day. I hope Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook carry on with their individual stuff. I'd love to see them work with Pet Shop Boys. I know Bernard Sumner is a good friend of theirs and collaborated with PSB's Neil Tennant on tracks for Bernard's "Electronic" side band with Johnny Marr.
Add Oingo Boingo to that list Debesh.
This bums me out just as much as when I fould out I Voted for Kodos (Ska Band I really Dig) are playing their last shows this week and breaking up.
I haven't been keeping tabs with NO since...like years ago. I got their greatest hits CD and have most of the songs in my ipod. FreshDebesh is right NO, Erasure and PSB are some of my fave groups from the '80s along with Depeche Mode and U2. As for Oingo Boingo I like their stuff too but not as much.
QFT, except the inclusion of PSB
Bummer and kinda strange that today is Monday .
*plays Blue Monday*
PSB are awesome! My favorite group of all time. Draven knows about that. I have every single they've released, on vinyl and cd.
This is a bummer indeed. NO were a great band. Joy Division was better, but NO were still great, especially the first few post JD records.
