I don't know what to say.

The clip is 7 minutes long and prolly NSFW.

I loved it. :D  Some of the cast in there (Michael Jai White, Lateef Crowder, Matt Mullins) would be wasted if this was just a trailer for a game.

Hell I'd want to watch it if it was called "Crazy People Punch Each Other", who cares about the MK connotation. Props given!

That was fucking amazing. I miss my old campy lizard Reptile though. :(

Wondering what's the skinny on Sub Zero. The direction they're going with this seems grounded in realism, so I'm excited to see how they're gonna work in his ice powers.

slightly cheesy. Not nearly as cheesy as Annihilation was, but slightly. I have always been of the opinion that MK (and any other fighting game) just can't be made into a movie script - there's just not enough to work with on the game's flimsy premise. However, this could be as good as it will ever get.

This looks very promising. I, as with many others was just a bit bummed when they killed off you-know-who. They easily could have just left him as "missing in action."

I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of the MK characters, especially Sub-Zero.

Michael Jai Spawn as Jax (the JACKSon on his door was amusing, I admit) intrigues me. I'm still not completely sold on this "realistic" take on MK, but anything with Johnny Cage in it has potential to me. And Kitana had better make an appearance.

    And she'd better be hot.

I could name at least 3 tougher actresses that are hot.

He forgot to read the briefing that morning, and was too Michael Jai White to say anything about it, so he just rolled with it when it came up.

That was really awesome. Don't care what it's for, but that was a perfectly contained promo and I love the direction they're going in.

This reminds me of the distributor pitch made for John Rambo, insofar it was too long to be a trailer intended for 'public consumption'. Either way I'm very intrigued - based on the length and apparent budget I'd say it's for a new movie rather than a game. :D

I agree- this would be a movie I'd watch, MK connections or not. In fact I think the only thing cheesy is when they do a MK name drop. Kinda mad Johnny Cage dies though- the original movie made me like him as a character.

Makes you wonder who the main hero will be.

Leu Kang is absent and Cage is M.I.A.

    I don't expect Raiden either.

    Needs more Kano though

See, I think it's a one-off trailer for a game. It just won't make that much money as a movie. As a direct-to-DVD movie? Maybe. As a direct-to-DVD cartoon like Superman: Doomsday? Definitely. But if we're talking about a wide-release into theaters, there just isn't a big enough market of Mortal Kombat fans, and there just isn't a wide-enough market of realistic Mortal Kombat fans. It would be like making a movie of The Dark Knight Returns; the fans would like it, and everyone would just be really confused about why Batman's so old all of a sudden.

That trailer left me with a warm fuzzy feeling inside... given there were at least 3 murders in it and some one eatting a human brain I'm now starting to worrie about myself.

a little cheesy but very interesting. i'm kind of on the fence with the whole lack of the traditional mystical/magic/outworld of mk. really not digging the baraka makeover. baraka=mad plastic surgeon with dreads and piercings? big time fail imo.

i'm hoping this is for a game and if it is a game i hope they really learn something from capcom and ssf4. go back to your roots cause mk has sucked ass since trilogy imo.

Scorpion as an anti-hero? Sub Zero as the misunderstood hero perhaps? Kano doing product placement for Dunkaroos? I actually thought Scorpion was Kano until they started talking Sub Zero.
