I would have thought Japan would have changed the colours on Primus but I guess not.

 

I don't think they changed the colours on any of the TLK figures actually. A bit sad, but perhaps the market just isn't there for it. Even in Japan, G1 reigns supreme, it would seem.

 

So I can buy my TLK figures right now without waiting for ability to see what Takara would make? Nice.

 

Ah, I was waiting for those. Not surprising that there's nothing new in there for Legends and Masterpiece though, WonFes Summer and the Takara Tomy Fes are right around the corner.

 

What do you think they'll show there?

I have TLK Roddy bought already.

I'm not surprised with there being no pics of new MPs. I just hope that we get some kick ass MP reveals at the upcoming shows. My pocketbook would appreciate knowing what it's in for in 2018.  

 

No MP Dinobot reveal?? Darnit.  

 

It seems that this 1976 Bumblebee figure will be the first Japanese release of the Opaque windows variant.

 

I want to see "The Golden Age of Cybertron Primus" eventually.

 

The next wave of Legends, which will most likely include Seaspray, Topspin, Blitzwing, Overlord and maybe others.

As for Masterpiece, Dinobot is a safe guess. If it will be an unpainted prototype still or a nearly final, all-painted piece is up for debate. Maybe another surprise G1 Masterpiece in its grayscale prototype stage to generate some hype.

I have no clue how they're gonna split up the reveals, I just assume once those two events are behind us we've seen most of what's coming up in terms of Japanese Transformers in the near future.

 

I wonder why BB is now this hybrid sports car thing. That mode used to be reserved for the minibot remolds/retools... but now BB is Cliffjumper or something.  

I ask because that VW Beetle alt mode is so distinctive (and TM'able?). Seems a shame to treat it like an afterthought and replace it with this weird generic thing.   VW BB was more punchy and underdog; the new BB is too WARRIOR and super-tough, imo. In this particular case, it's like they're trying to marry the Bay aesthetic/character redesign to the G1 theme... and it doesn't work for me.

But I bet it has everything to do with Hasbro not having license to use the VW Beetle mode, and they are too cheap to pay the licensing fees. That just sucks, though.   MP BB is nice, but I'd love a Legends/Scout VW BB that was easier to transform and had the playability of this TR line.

And, I'd love an ABOMINUS.

As much as I hope TLK-26, TLK-27 and TLK-28 are still a mystery, I feel there are none of them and Takara just doing a stupid thing by leaping over numbers.

 

Wished the images were a little clearer. I really want to see what they had to say about the MPMs.

 

It has nothing to do with paying for the license, as the TR line doesn't use licensed vehicle modes. If they wanted to make him a VW-alike, they could, just like they do with every other "real life car but slightly different" design. Bumblebee is a hybrid sports car today because that is the most logical modern equivalent of his '80s alt mode - A common, popular, low priced, efficient everyman's car. VW Beetles are fairly rare today, and making BB a hybrid means he's more familiar to kids and blends in better with modern traffic.

 

We are a like a month and a week from Legends Trypticon dropping, and honestly the details about him have still been vague. All of the pictures look identical to the Hasbro release except that the grey in some photos has been darker. I'm still kinda hoping to hear whether or not anything will be different or added to Takara's.

 

So, no MP news?
