It's funny cause it's true
in b4 "matt moylan hates all things new"
Oh no, Matt Moylan made a joke about something! Clearly he must hate it and we must rush to its defense before such a fragile multi-million dollar international movie is destroyed!
Internet white knight force, unite!
But seriously, I like that he used an 80s reference to make a comic about a new movie that is an 80s reference.
Matt Moylan white knight force unite!
Despite his rabid movie hate blurb beneath the comic, this week's work had me chuckling quite a bit.
Nay Thundercrackah, your vast abilities are needed to defend Lord Bay in the Movies section. Tary not, fine Defender of the faith, for the TRUE Battleground for the future of the movie, nay - THE WORLD, doth hang by a thread.
From what I've gleaned from the prequel comics, Jetfire is only like a month shy of being as old as time itself. Way older than any other old Transformer, and pretty much in his own league of old.
Why does he have to be old? No other Jefire was like this.
Also, his attitude remind me of my least favorite Old TF: Energon Bulkhead while the voice John Turttoro will trigger a bad memory from the firs involving him- you know... BUMBLEPEEING
^ If that's the case, then Jetfire is to ROTF what Vector Prime was to Cybertron. I'm not sure I particularly like the way they're creating him for the new movie, but whatever.
As for Matt - Maybe the next strip should be "The Transformers Old Age Home". Caneformers rule!
It's one thing to criticize the movies, but it's a whole other thing to criticize them for the same sort of storytelling ideas we've been seeing for the history of the franchise.
How is a robot using a cane any more lame than a robot with facial hair that ages with him?
This is just how the franchise works, people.
And I would be SHOCKED if the old Marvel comics didn't feature old, cane using robots at some point.
That is funny!!!
The actual comic is quite funny. (even though I really couldn't tell what was happening until I saw the little cane. )
His little hate rant, and just his attitude towards any notion of creativity in Transformers isn't.
I don't know why everyone hates on Matt THAT much, he's no different than regular people who bash the movie/Animated while trying to be witty, the only difference is that he draws little pictures about them.
Goddamn, Matt Moylan is such a fu-*
Oh, wait. I agree with this one. I can't wait for the character in TF3 who can't transform at all, and has to move around in a wheelchair.
*No, Candlejack has nothing to do with this po-
Rattrap for TF3 sigs incoming...
Y'know, I've read and re-read the arguments, but still I can't work out what it is about this whole cane idea that gets people so steamed up. Matt's blog post is a case in point; he says that he can accept size-changing and female robots, but that this is a step too far. Why? I don't understand.
We've seen hairy Transformers. We've seen crying Transformers. We've seen farting Transformers with colds. We've seen Transformers with boobs and nipples. Of course having an old man Transformer with a walking stick is ridiculous, but that's because this is a ridiculous franchise; I honestly can't see why this is any more or less ridiculous than anything we've had before.
...the joke's quite funny, though.
Demolishor's grandfather for TF3!
Because it's new.
As for the comic... Ha...
And it was AWESOME. Besides, where's the problem in believing Wreck-Gar would glue discarded hair to his face?
Crying? Hmm, not convinced myself, but if it helps you sleep at night.
Beast Wars was nonsensical. I fail to understand your point.
Yes, that was totally canonical. Not at all something slipped in (f'narr f'narr) as a single frame joke by the animators.
Why do people need to walk with walking sticks? Because their body parts don't work. What does a robot do when a part doesn't work? Repair/replace it. Of course, it has been established that the Bayverse Transformers lack any sort of useful repair skills, so I guess this is only to be expected.
