Yeah Yeah I know - a self-congratulatory threade...but, after 10 years with Marriott, and earning my Master's in March, I have accepted a job with the new startup football league. My official title as of today is Football Operations Coordinator. They plan on adding a Director of Finance after the season - based, of course, on vitality of the league - and I would then move into that role with a significant increase in salary.

I am, of course, nervous about leaving my comfort zone after 10 years (I am only 29), but I think this will be fantastic move on my part. It is certainly a risk, but it has HUGE payoff potential. After talking to my current RD, and with my track record at Marriott, I always have a job as a property manager if this doesn't work out. So I am excited.

BTW, my boss is a certain former NFL all-pro RB who graduated from Auburn. Yeah, my boss is an Auburn guy!

Yeah, but it is Team Alabama, crimson and white, so, yeah, jokes on him. Plus Joe is a great guy.

The All American Football League: www.AAFL.com

Pretty neat concept, with a much less sleazy owner than the XFL (looking at you, Vince McMahon)

Sweet! I hope it does well. I think I remember Birmingham having some kind of semi-pro team when I was a kid. Can't remember the name. I want to say Birmingham Bengals, but I'm not sure.
