I think so. As someone already pointed out, the Takara Tomy ad (toys go on sale—in Japan—from March) which has the Prime silhouette looks a lot like the one on display at the toy show that took place in Osaka yesterday—wish I had known about it; I totally would have gone. Kobe's only 30-minutes away:(

Looks interesting. Makes me wonder how, or if at all, these new weapons will be utilized in the show.

This is exactly why I'm skipping the First Edition stuff and waiting for the RID main line versions instead - because I have a feeling we're going to see a few more paint/mold changes on more figures than just BB and CJ.

New molds doesn't necessarily mean better molds, if that new Deluxe BB is any indication (the new one looks rather simplified and more blocky than the first edition mold, at least in pictures). I'm just afraid HasTak will try to simplify most of their transformation engineering with the premise that kids (and parents) want simpler transforming toys with mold engineering and character accuracy going out the window.

Whereas I think any mold tweaks or differences we see in the RID figures will be likely make the figures look more accurate. Well, I hope so anyway.

As for the new BB, I'm not passing any judgement yet considering the one solitary pic we saw was of an unpainted WIP prototype taken at a shitty downward angle. The new CJ mold is really the only one we've gotten a somewhat clear look at so far. Jury is still out on whether or not it's better than the First Edition version, though.

But yeah, obviously there is a chance any new versions could be worse. It's a gamble I'm willing to take.

While there would be a part of me that would go FFFFFF for all the new mold tweaks/repaints, better and more widely available product is a good thing for all involved, that much I can agree on. XD Nobody to blame but myself for spending the scratch on first glimpse products that were marketed with big giant letters reading, "First Edition." Still, I'm curious what all the new changes will involve seeing how the couple of FE figures I already picked up really impressed me with their engineering and accuracy to character CGI models.

I will most likely solicit some TF: Prime RID toys from Japan, then! :D

Man, this shows me why I love the Prime Optimus' design so much. It looks so heroic!

I wonder if this may have anything to do with Season 2 of Prime.

Apart from having two blasters, I think this is indisputably less accurate than the First edition one. Not to mention the doorwings being so close and flat and low, the shoulders, the neckpiece, and the piece of kibble behind the head are real turn-offs. I really don't see how people can say it's an improvement at all.

I'm still not convinced that thing really transforms, that it's just a lights and sound thing.

It's a proof of concept prototype of the gimmick. The same reason as why a Movie Prime stands in for the vehicle mode. Not the same thing as the Takara OP though.

The same promotion set as that shot is from had an advertisement about "intuitive transformation" so I guess they changed Bumblebee and Cliffjumper to be more easily transformable.

I wonder if this may have anything to do with Takaras love of easy money.

As if preview pics were not known for mistransformation... :p
How about we give the second edition a chance and wait until somebody competent enough provides an early review.

Mistransformation has nothing to do with it.

That's the picture I was referring to - though I misremembered it still being uncolored. Either way, I still stand by my point: that angle is completely wonked and I'm pretty confident it won't be as weirdly wide & stout as that picture indicates. I might be wrong, obviously, but I think we've learned years ago not to take these convention pics as gospel vs. what we end up seeing on shelves.

You think they built a non-transforming robot and a truck with the same gimmick? The truck looks like it has a lot of movable parts...
