You know, with everything going on in the TF titles and the major characters kicking off left and right... when people were first saying that it looks like IDW is shaping up for a universal reboot, I thought it was Chicken Little talk... now I think that actually IS what they're ramping up towards, and Unicron is the perfect way to handle it. If they treat Unicron like a multiversal singularity, destroying it would provide a sufficient justification to reset the universe.

Its interesting how the writer is so proud of being solely responsible for bringing the Visionaries idea to Hasbro. It was her and Fico's idea and they presented it to Hasbro. Yet when asked about the decision to kill of a major character, she passes it off as if she was forced to do it. Glad to see A.) Kup's death was so important to the original vision and B.) the writer has zero fortitude to tell the story she claims to want to tell.

Reinvent Visionaries = Turn them into a society of social justice warriors.

Honestly, I’d be pretty annoyed if they rebooted. I’ve not invested in 13 years worth of comic books - both TF and other franchises - to see it all get reset back to square one.

What have they done so far that’s made them in any way like social justice warriors?

If they did that without killing Kup, I'd be totally cool with that. Piss off the righty snowflakes.

Reboot might be the only way they keep the license. Marvel's new EIC seems hellbent on rebuilding the Marvel of the 70s and 80s. Less politically driven stories and lots of licensed comics. They've already announced that Conan is coming back in 2019. He'd love to have the Hasbro titles back too.

I mean, if an editor tells you to do something, you kinda have to do it. Either that or risk getting fired.

It's not really anything the characters themselves have done, but the mentality behind them. Instead of adding new diverse Spectral Knights and Darkling Lords, these are reinvented diverse new characters, a la M.A.S.K.. SJWs replace existing characters, but rarely want to create all unique new ones.

They couldn't make a black Spectral Knight who's totem is an elephant? Boom. Didn't change a thing. Just added to what we already knew.

I wouldn't. I'm not too crazy about the TF continuity these days. I'd love to see the 2013-2015 level of writing and mythos building, but during the war on Earth. And it would be good to see all of those dead characters again.

I fail to see how changing someone's skin tone makes that big of a difference to their character. So Leoric is black now, what does that chance about him other than the way he looks? Reinventing characters to add more diversity didn't do M.A.S.K. any damage. Plenty of other things did, but not the added diversity.

I do like that elephant totem idea though. IDW, get on it.

Er, reading between the lines, it seems pretty clear she wanted to write Visionaries, and was told the only way that was going to happen is if it was a Transformers crossover where she took direction on what happened to the Transformers. This is on IDW editorial, throwing her into the pit and then making her kill the crowd's favourite.

Also, not directed at you or anyone in particular but: Leoric is black. Get over it? The real problem is Cindarr is suddenly smart, and Lexxor isn't crawling under the table.

Exactly. This is my problem. They completely rewrite a character's personality to the point that they are fundamentally unrecognisable as their '80s counterpart and no one bats an eye. But they make someone's skin tone a few shades darker and suddenly the writers have taken a massive dump on everything that character stood for.

Retconned Virulina as darkling leader, made magic into "a sad old religion that ended the world".

Beyond that look at the writers history, or hell even the name of the site that interviewed her.

This is not a good direction. It did not end well for marvel.
