First Still of Karl Urban As "Dredd" Hits - Comic Book Resources
He IS the LAAAAAWWWWGGGGHAAAWGGH.
I'll wait for a trailer. You can't judge anything from still shots. With the exception of movies like Hallie Barry's Catwoman
That helmet looks like crap.
My friend loves Judge Dredd, so he'll probably be happy with this. Can't say that I've ever been a real fan, but it looks okay from the picture I guess. The gun looks stupid however, and that helmet is way too big for Karl Urban. But the costume/uniform itself I must admit looks nice.
Uh, it's too early to tell for sure. Going to need to see a trailer. But yeah that helmet looks a few sizes too big...Or maybe his head is just too small...I donno.
From the description it sounds like they're shooting for "Judge Dredd: Begins."
Well you can really tell the guys who own the IP are making this. That's EXACTLY what every image of Dredd from the 2000AD comic strips has looked like. That I've seen.
This is your final.warning.
Helmet too big, shoulderpads and chin too small.
Not gonna hate until I see the movie thougth, the picture is only from rehersals and I can live with that anyway as long as they actually get the point this time.
Hopefully this one has abc warriors too.
Oh man how laughable was the 90s too one, yikes. I watched that in theathres too, ugh.
The people behind this movies seem to be aiming for realism as much as possible. That's why his shoulderpads are smaller, his gun/SMG has a bigger magazine and the helmet is the shape it is. I mean, take a look at helmets in use today, they don't hug the face/head, there is actualy space between the head and the helmet.
Now, when someone mentions Judge Dredd, Stallone's Dredd coms to my mind, but I dig this new Dredd. And let's be honest, Karl pulled off Dredd's iconic scowl much better than Stallone ever could and will.
Can't be worse then the nineties flick. This one's already ahead by keeping the mask on from what I heard.
Yeah, it says that in the article.
I'll approach this with cautious optimism. Can't me worse than Stallone's.
The front bit of the gun isn't that far off the modern comic version actually, it just has a slider at the back rather then the computery ammo selection bit.
As long as it provides Doug with more material, I'm all for it.
I'll watch it. For this:
I grew up on 2000AD and used the nice black and white inks as a base style for when I first started inking my own artwork. I was more of a Rogue Trooper fan than a Judge Dredd fan though.
My immediate impression of that photo was 'meh' but who knows, it might come good. Helmet does look too big to me and the uniform is leaning a little bit too much towards generic future military style. I guess there were a few vests left over from the Blade movies, eh? Can't see if there's an eagle on the other shoulder. At least they sorta tried aping the other shoulder pad on the one we can see, even if now it looks like a small Cornish pasty.
I actually quite enjoyed the Stallone attempt but I do accept its many faults. Dunno if this one will be better, but at least it'll be different.
What I am looking forward to is maybe a Judge Dredd play helmet in stores when the movie hits.
It couldn't be worse than the Stallone effort - could it?
I doubt it, impersonating a Judge will get you life in the isocubes.
Buddies n i laughed our ass off watching this. It was respectable right up to when stallone opened his mouth, whic was pretty early on
Separate names with a comma.
