Completely agree. I think it's time that Hasbro took a new direction with their Leader Class figures. I'm tired of the gimmicks; I take the batteries out as soon as I buy them because the sound effects usually drive me to murder. (The only exception being Animated Megs, who's insanely evil laughter I could listen to all day.)

I want them to start bringing the bar up on the figure's quality rather than its gimmickery. Why pay $50 for a figure that in bot mode has limited to no articulation in the feet, waist and wrists? If a deluxe can have all of those points hit, why can't a Leader?

Seriously, I'm faced with paying either $50 for a Leader now, or $6 for the Legends. I want a Megatron from ROTF, but now I'm going to have to seriously consider what that Leader price point is giving me...

 

Now I get it! They put the legends class left arm on the leader's class left arm!

 

Wow, that's actually a decent little Megs there.

I may get him and with very few exceptions, I hate the movie aesthetic.

I have to agree with a lot of the comments here-Legends Megatron's alt mode is FAR superior to the 45 dollar leader version. I knew Hasbro was going to find a way to screw the new leader up. What makes it so hard to produce a good Megatron lately (Animated Leader Megatron excluded).

It seems like with a little effort, they could just enlarge the legends concept for Megatron, allowing him to have more detail and better articulation. Isn't that what a leader class really should be?

 

He's got the tank mode, but fails in every other regard.


Alexander Quinn, these are made for kids. Kids like that the expensive ones have the lights and sounds. can you imagine if there were leaders made without them? I bet they wouldn't sell nearly as well, because without the electronics kids would just think of them as lame over-sized and over-priced TFs.

 

Or at least their parents think they do, and they're the ones buying.

 

C'mon, Leader Prime and Brawl (and Animated Magnus, Bulkhead and Megatron) are EXCELLENT figures. Only Movie Megatron seems to suffer.

 

how come this little Megatron seems to be better than the Leader Class version? The arms are proportionate unlike the leader class version... how can they screw the leader class version?

 

The arms aren't supposed to be proportionate.

He's supposed to have a gimp arm to show the fact that he cannibalized his parts from other dead Decepticon.

 

The legends tank mode is far more "sleeker" you could say. It makes me wonder if all the reviews and preproduction shots have been slightly mis- transformed.

 

Definitely a lot better than the TFTM legends figure of Megs. The fact he is a tank is a big reason for this I suppose....

Also, let's hope that Hasbro reserved the A-squad geniuses for Jetfire. Seems that the scrubs always get the Leader Movie Megatron job.

 

I would be surprised if they didn't use the same guy that designed Leader Optimus for his combining mate.
