Looks like some of them have a gestalt thing going on. This is pretty cool! Anyone know how good those phones are? And if they take SIM cards?

    Heh, yeah, I wish....

    EDIT: More pics here

I need a new hand set. And I prefer clamshell/flip phones. Hmm. I like...

There's apparently some live action movie or show that takes place in the very near future that has to do with some guy and his uber-cellphone. I can probably find something more specific than that on the internet.

The show these tie in to is Cellphone Investigator (more easily found online as Keitai Sousakan) 7. The show is currently being subbed by two groups, Order of Zeronos and TV-Nihon. OZ is farther along and for the most part I like their subs better. The show seems pretty good so far, as long as you can get past what I felt was a kind of slow start for the first three or so episodes before pieces start coming together more cleanly.

I've read that Toshiba has made a real handset of Seven (the white phone) with the LCD face and articulated, transformable limbs. That wacky Japan.

I like the purple-and-yellow one, and the crabbish one.

Wonder if they're trying to evoke Soundwave with the blue-and-silver one.

Keitai Sousakan 7 is one of my favorite shows of 2008.

Nah, these are electronic, but I understand that they just do really rudimentary things, like makes faces and maybe play games.

They have 1 and two accessories at BBTS, but at $60 for the phone braver and $35 each for accessories, its an expensive gamble. I'd like to get one if they had some sort of electronic gimmick or something. Are they all die cast?

Edit: C.I. answered one of my questions while I was tying this I see.

I kind of doubt there's a wealth of diecast to be had. Honestly, besides the fairly visible LCD panel faces, I'm not sure how extensive the electronics are. The upshot is that the way these "transform" makes the central body analogous to a GBA SP, so there is plenty of undisturbed room for it. Game functions are easily possible with full keypad functioning. But I'd almost be happy enough with just the facial expressions if BBTS didn't want $60 for Seven alone.

Regarding the functions on the DX Phone Braver 7, this is what I could find on Hlj.

The whole speech thing sounds awesome. I'm a total nutcase for talking toys, especially if they actually say something relevant to the media :D

I want the real phone... Big props to whoever can find me a way to import an unlocked version of the Toshiba 815T PB!

Sorry... but that video review is annoying to watch. Clean your bloody nails guy! >_<

It'll be tricky- While I was in Japan I'd looked into that stuff and some phones over there simply cannot be ported over here with a basic unlocking. Like, they use wavebandslengthswhatevers that you cannot use at all in North America and stuff.

Someone probably knows about this stuff on a vaguely technical degree though, hehe.

Well, it is a softbank 3G phone, so... if it can be unlocked, it will work over here (My Rogers SIM card will work) the problem is finding how to unlock it, and even buy the phone.
