Marvel's been talking about this for awhile. They weren't reall happy with the movie that was made, and they want to do a new one as a new franchise, ala Batman Begins.
But aren't you supposed have a few gay (literally) sequels thens top for 10 years before you remake.... What's next a remake of Little Man...
I hated Hulk, it had nothing to do with Ang Lee and everything to do with the villians. Namely Nick Nolte and those ridiculous dogs. The acting was ok, the plot progression was decent, maybe a little slow, but anytime the hulk had to fight the film went to hell. Personally I would like to see them wrap this together with the avengers and make a movie out of the first five issues of the Ultimates since the cartoon was such a travesty.
I heard this get mentioned as well and was wondering about the authenticity of it. I wouldn't mind seeing a better, more interesting Hulk film. I'll admit up front - I don't know the comics - but The Hulk movie was uninteresting after a while.
I've been out of comics for a few years now, but comics show multiple angle panels of the same scene where nothing is happening to liven up the boring scene? That's like showing ten different angles of Peter Parker eating toast in the morning while reading his Daily Bugle
From various comic boards, rumors of a Hulk remake has been floating around but most of it I read is a continuation from the first one. The only differences will be: i) more action; ii) enemy will be gamma-powered probably the Abomination; and iii) "man-in-suits"...
I'd have to say that the biggest problem I had with it was that the Hulk never seemed angry enough nor as out of control as he should be. In all the fight scenes he seemed really restrained. And could we get a bit of Ultimates Hulk's attributes showing? You know the rampaging, people eating monster.
I hope they ditch trying to do the Hulk in cgi. I don't think it was believable from him to become so huge and still have his pants on. I think the way they did it in the Bill Bixby series is a more believable route for live action.
I neither like nor dislike Ang Lee as a director, but Hulk wasn't great, and I think it did Lee's reputation a lof of damage* Seems like he didn't have much to work with; The killer mutant poodle thing wasn't clever or even ironic. It was just bad. I'm inclined to blame the scriptwriter, and/or whoever approved the script Would Arad have been one of the people who approved it? I do wonder how picky Arad actually is; Didn't he say before something along the lines of 'We have 5000 characters in Marvel, we can make a movie of all of them.' My knowledge of Hulk isn't great , but IIRC the collection of enemies that he has is somewhat limited. Perhaps Banner's greatest enemy his himself, but one can only watch an actor furrow their brow in anguished confusion for so long before it becomes tiresome. Maybe there's not enough in Hulk to make a good movie. *Yes i do think Brokeback was a calculated move on the part of Lee to improve his rep - i can't blame him.
Didn't he rape as well? And a remake? How the hell are they going to make that work!? Then again, if Marvel can do it with Hulk, perhaps Hasbro could do it with the Transformers movie, around 2015 or so. Does anyone know if Peter Jackson is free by then?
